You have the choice to use or remove Android apps as you like, I'm not sure the same could be said for apple. Google have done a great job with their apps, nearly all are on material design, look great and are easy to use... Sometimes users want a little more and are free to choose another third party app...

I got it from having Vodafone credit over and doesn't do half as much as people claim. The big one is battery saver, not a big difference in hermit facebook or official app. There is a free version with some limitations but think not enough to make it functional

In its basic form you can use "apps" they make or make your own (from webapges), handy say for boards who dont have an app or one someone made years ago

There is also a early release programme for a euro but sure its eleven days off two months since app was updated

Hi All - I promise I am not being a prick and I do recognise that people are contributing on here selflessly so others may benefit from their good nature.

But as someone who came on here specifically to look for "must have Android Apps and Games" then this thread is utterly useless, pointless and self-defeating.

1,087 posts over 73 pages and 26 months in chronological order with no short list, long list or any kind of list of actual "must have Android Apps and Games".

Its not your fault - Boards.ie never evolved - It doesn't rank posts on any merit whatsoever - Just forces the reader to wade through every post in the order it happened to have been added without any thought or refinement.

If posts were ranked and upvoted by the userbase as on other sites then the worthwhile stuff would make its way to the top....

Someone above mentioned theres no point in posting a list as its too subjective (my words/interpretation) - But surely that's what this thread was supposed to be for?

Obviously anyone with an ounce of cop-op knows that tastes and requirements vary and one persons must have app is going to be of no value to some other people.

Anyway - No offence intended to anyone - Just some feedback.

Ah it's more like a running diary of good games/apps that are found on a day to day basis rather than a comprehensive list.

Forum software like vbulletin doesn't lend itself to maintaining dynamic lists.

If you go back to my original post nearly 10 years ago, I don't use any of those apps any more.

Visit this thread daily rather than digging back through the archives. That's what I do.

This thread serves a purpose but as you said because it is not based on a rating system, which I don't ever foresee boards going down that route, it will not ever be a definitive list. Taste is subjective and are user needs. It's more an informative thread than anything.
Look on any of the android sites like Android Police, Phandroid etc they issue lists but there never will be a definitive list. Some people use the charts on the play store but others operate outside of Google so their feedback is not going to show on there either.

Lol. I don't think I've ever heard of any of those apps (possibly Notepad but it might be a different one in thinking of). I must have been a total technopobe those days.

It's not even that there's no list and ratings, it's that nobody ever recommends an app any more and instead it's now a special offer thread. Though I think the main reason for that is that there aren't apps to recommend any more. People use what they use and there's nothing new coming out worth talking about.

Yeah there's not a huge of blow you away must have apps being released. The needs of most people are covered in what's out there already.

Yeah it's all covered. At best we might see something that improves a current app or service but that's a rare occurrence.

Never liked it as much from the first beta. Queueing is cumbersome and it's a pain getting unwanted old podcasts in your feed. Still don't know if there's any I'd change to, it's a pity Google never bothered making theirs more functional.

The latest reviews on the Play Store are all negative. They have to sit up and take notice.

They were very good at support and taking feedback when it was owned by Pocketcasts themselves in Australia, but you'd be unsure how it will go with NPR owning it now.

Don't suppose anyone knows a good dialler app (to essentially replace the phone on MIUI, it's the one bit of it I hate)

I used to like the old way of going into phone and see a log of all missed calls in the order they happened. Not like the way MIUI do it grouped together.

plus that "X rang 5 times" still puts the heart across me when I see it next to my mother or fathers name until I reason it's not what it looks like.

i'd love to be rid of it.

You could try Google's Phone app, if it is not the version used by MIUI?

Contacts+ is one that's popular and has been around ages too. If the Google one above works though I'd definitely recommend that too.

I use what I use but am sure I'm missing out of some great, interesting and wonderful Apps.

Surely a "These are my current top 10 (20?) Android Apps - As of March 2019" type thread would be great.

People could highlight great apps they've been using or recently discovered and then there would be a bit of debate and disagreement, cue further alternative recommendations where everyone gains.

Should be a sticky I reckon.

I even went looking for a google one and didn't find it!

In my defence, I've search google play store on my phone and "phone" doesn't come up in the list of apps returned.

The only one I can see is contacts, but it seems to make a hames of your contacts if it goes wrong. I'm not sure I want to risk it

    Might try contact+

Your flogging a dead horse, your posts are something that pops up once or twice a year.

You could try starting a New Thread, but it would probably be closed by the MODS and get you pointed at this thread.

Here is some more links of the kind of thing your looking for: -

Top 7 Best New Android Apps for March 2019

15 best Android apps of 2019!
^^^ Did I link that already in another reply.

Another problem is the websites, with these kind of lists are protected with anti-adblock and usually full of annoying ads when you disable your adblocker.

Some youtube's you may be interested in https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=android+apps+march+2019
^^^ Mostly just ads for VPN services, and apps they have affiliation links for.

Also there is category of apps (streaming), we can't even discuss due to boards rules. Which is where new development kind of happens.

Edit: - Also nearly every Monday, I post roundup links of new apps, sometimes people comment on the apps they find in them.

Why do they close them or merge them here though, now that the title doesn't fit the content?

Now, I don't think we actually need a thread probably, but the militancy about it is strange. Especially as the Android forum could have ten different threads asking the same thing about the same phone and there's never anything closed or merged.
