Just wondering does anybody know, if you are a Grade 3 and are say on Point 4 on the pay scale how does this transfer to Grade IV? Are you paid on the 4th point of scale on IV?

    Thanks

You move to the nearest point +1, i.e. if you are currently on the 4th point of the Grade III payscale (26,032) the nearest point on the Grade IV payscale is the 1st point (27,290), so you would move on to the 2nd point (29,159)...

I thought the first point if the scale was €28,500?

Sorry, I was looking at the Oct 18 consolidated payscale... the 1st point of the Grade IV scale is 27,563...

Cool Braids - that is excellent news.
I am going through the same process - and just waiting for refs to return forms - I have submitted the notarised copies of certs!
A pain in the bum to get done but I had it already before it was requested by HBS - just know it is a very tight turn around time wise, I got less than a week to get it all done.

Hi, how to get the certs notarised? How much it costs? Do we need to get all certs attested like from school college etc... thanks

    Hi Dublintigger,
Just in relation to reference checks, timeline, etc. - I sent back the reference questionnaire (looking for 5 referee's details!!?) on the day I received it 3 weeks ago & hadn't heard anything back so rang Manorhamilton last week & they said it'd be "at least" this week before they'd get to "review" my questionnaire & contact my referees... I thought this would be one step but apparently they then have to send paperwork to the referees for completion... has this been your experience and do they contact all referees? I accepted the job on the 21st of January and shouldn't be surprised at the amount of arsing round involved but...

I sent out the ref forms last week (HBS requested just 3) and have heard nothing since. Not sure I expected to ..... yet!!! I reckoned that if there is a problem then I'll hear back pretty quickly. Fingers crossed the next time I hear will be to confirm a start date although it wouldn't surprise me if I'm asked to submit further docs/information.

HBS is very, very slow - painfully so. They are (I guess) understaffed and have a reputation of being thorough.

The whole thing is just so frustrating. I wouldn't mind but my references were checked out when I accepted my current post less than 3 years ago. But apparently they can't just accept the reference of my current boss as the competition that time was ran through the PAS... There's thorough and then there's completely unnecessary bureaucracy!!! Sorry, rant over! Thanks for your reply :)

There are more stages unfortunately. I accepted my position mid December and the contacted me only last week for a start date. I told them I was withdrawing. I felt bad as the manager contacted and said she was looking forward to me starting etc, but the snail's pace that is this process really doesn't help anything!

FYI for anyone in the Civil Service, I was told that I would go to the first point of the scale of a Grade IV. I would have thought my service from the Civil Service would carry.

I wonder if they are posting referees their reference requests or emailing them?

You, the candidate, are given the forms to email to the choosen (HSE) referee ..... not sure what happens there after.

Hi anyone on a specified contract here? I just wonder how likely is it to become permanent after the contract is finished?

Both contract and perm have been advertised. I'm not sure what the circumstances would be once the contract is finished. I think that would be a conversation to be had nearer the end of the contract.

I got an email the very day you replied to me (Tuesday gone) with reference docs and a list of documents required attached. My referees have the forms now so hoping they'll fill out & return asap & have my docs ready to go today after getting copied & notarised yesterday evening. All has to be back by next Tuesday...

Is the starting salary as Aso more than point 2 as a CO?

Yes but they said you move to the nearest point +1 so that would mean the nearest to me is the 1st so should I have been put on the second as that would be nearest +1?

Hi farmgirl1. You need to download and read section 14 (page 7) of DOH HR_Circular 10/71 re Appointment and Conditions of Service of Officers and Servants. That sets out the procedure for the remuneration of officers on promotion. I think you might fall under provision (ii)... no harm double-checking with HR though...

SPC have no end - see Specified Purpose Contracts under HSE guidelines. Some SPC's have gone on for over 5 years.
An SPC either finishes, or, it can be offered for permanency, but only via open interview, which means one has to interview for the same job one may have held over 4 years.

Apologies - unsure if there are other terms under civil service or public sector - but believe they are the same policy.

Hi Dublintigger, just to get is straight - once occ health form and names of refs submitted - next step receipt of reference forms to pass to mgt? Then are mgt to give them back to us to submit to HBS? At this point mgt will know we are leaving - but no 'start' date yet - and garda vetting still to do?
