Look I don't think you're really getting the catastrophic problem of lads wearing boot cut jeans with shoes here. I have attached an image.

Boot cut jeans aren't "normal" jeans as you keep suggesting. They are designed for boots! I normally wouldn't feel as strongly about such a trivial topic on the internet but if a young rural lad was to see this and take you're advice they may never court outside their family

Exhibit 1 = don't do it. 3 and 5 as well but the 90's was ages ago.

But didn’t you say you shouldn’t wear shoes with any jeans? Your post did not specify bootcut, in which case most people would agree with you.

I don’t see a problem with shoes and straight jeans

What if the shoes were big shoes? What then?

All of those jean styles look terrible except regular and paradoxically bootcut, which I now know is a slight flare just below the knees. Slight

I wear my jeans gangster style. Two sizes too big, ass showing.

If your shoes are big they're ****ing boots like!

You ok with my gangster baggy jeans then?

Nah. No shoes with jeans at all! Unless you're a skinhead with drainpipe jeans and you're willing to turn your jeans up and kick my head in. In that case you can do what you want. Life's too short for that argument.

The bootcut jeans in that image look perfectly fine! Better than or pretty much the same as other jeans on the same image.

Yeah alright. What shoes are under them bad boys?

I’m back to being confused again. No shoes with jeans at all means no jeans unless we go out barefoot. Or are you excluding a category of shoes like boots.

    Er........

    *sheepishly*

    None?

I'm keeping boots and shoes completely separate here. And wellies.

Hunter wellies at festivals for posh mots are alright though. If you're a lad wearing Hunter wellies at all no matter what your jeans are like you are a suspect.

Id never be one to stay out for more than 24 hours. Usually if I went out at 10pm latest id be home would be 10am i can never keep going until that night.

To those in their 30s..do you have young kids and still session hard like you used to, every so often?

I was at a friend of a friends house one night a few weeks back and there was this woman in her 30s there who was out of her head on es. we stayed from 4am until 11am and we left to go home and she stayed... Getting phone calls every once in a while from her children asking when she was coming to pick them up. Then proceeded to tell me she had just finished paying off a €6000 debt for weed.

Safe to say i was astonished and silently judged her aaaalot. I presume and hope once i have children that would be the end of any major sessions for me. Or at the least, if you do go on a major session, knowing you wont be near your children until you have a decent sleep and a shower. Or making sure you're home before they wake up or whatever.

    Disgusting surely..

I'm mid 30's. No kids. I only want to stay up arguing about appropriate footwear and jeans.

Your friends mate is a dickhead in all seriousness unless her spouse is willing to take over all child minding duties the next day. The kids shouldn't be able to call but without that what harm? Drug debts aside. I have mates that have arrangements where they take it in turn having big nights with the kids at home.

Shes a single mother. Yeah she was a dickhead and i judged her so bad. She was chewing the face off herself and trying to tell me 'i put da kids first'

I'm only 20 so have a long way to go to the end of my partying days. Last night was a good one. My boyfriend ran a bring your own beer techno event in a local venue. 150 people.. Got home at 9 this morning and debating calling in sick tomorrow :v

501's, Adidas originals and whatever the weather dictates on top.

Yeah perfect casual wear. Still don’t understand the no shoes with any jeans comment. If that’s the case then every fella in the country is a goon. And if everyone except you is a goon then it’s far more likely that you are the goon surely?

We'll agree to disagree on this one so. I hope Garth gets at least one night in the SFX so you can experience the North Side at least once

Anyone who gives that much of a shite about jeans is probably equally as dull of a bastard as the bootcut wearing types they look down on.

Are we clear what the definition of a shoe is? A brogue, oxford or the infamous "dube" shouldn't be worn with jeans. Runners or a boot with a jean is fine. Many a fine man has a shoe, a boot and a runner but they wear them appropriately.

    What's your opinion on runners?

You’re talking about dress shoes and they can be worn with jeans depending on the jeans, shoes and occasion. Obviously brogues and ripped jeans would look ridiculous but a nice dressy pair of jeans with a pair of casual looking shoes and a nice fitting shirt and jacket is absolutely fine. Not everyone wants to wear runners on a night out.

Sure aren't they festival apprentices, they have to test their stamina for the long weekend raves at Life Festival, Body&Soul, All Together Now and Electric Picnic festivals. Next thing is you'll be able to get a degree in partying. :)

Alright man. We're at odds here because in my mind there is no such thing as a "dressy pair of jeans". I don't think "dressy" runners exist either. Runners are runners and jeans are jeans and they're rapid together. Shoes are deadly with suits and nothing else.

Bootcut jeans are literally just jeans. Someone said they look awful though, and thus the lemming bandwagon began chugging.

No they’re not. They’re a specific cut - bootcut. And like any cut of jeans, they’ll have people who like them and those who don’t. I hate bootcut jeans. I like wide leg, skinny, flared or straight leg. Bootcut are awful to me. Guess I’m a lemming...

Paul Galvin wears shoes four sizes too big and stuffs them with Kleenex.

Lots of people go on nights out to meet potential sex partners, rather than to socialise. By your late thirties you're less likely to be single, and more likely to use different channels for that if you are.

Also you're more likely to have responsibilities that require a clear head in the morning.

Also nights out can seem like adventures when you're younger. By your late thirties you probably know what you're doing a bit more and that sense of adventure is no longer there.
