What is this place?

Ignore the picture of the cathedral if it comes up. Should be a pin dropped near the Galway Clinic. Was on the 3rd floor today looking out the back of the place when I noticed a large Irish flag flying above a castle-like / manor house looking structure. I'm pretty sure this is it on the map but it's a poor satellite picture.

Anyone have any idea what this place is or was?

Aha, finally got a street view pic of it from the Doughiska Rd.

Is that the one you can also see in the distance from the end of the motorway?

AFAIK, it is/was a private house. Just shows you that money and taste don't necessarily go together!

It’s just a private house built during the boom by a builder.

I think it has come up one here before - as above it is a private house complete with home (not a cinema as I thought) chapel.

It looks like some kind of castle but I believe it's a private home.

It's more tasteful than many of the mcmansions littering the countryside.

Can see it all the way from Parkmore.
I asked a builder friend about it years ago, and he said the same thing. Recently built, and private dwelling.
I'd like my own castle

Private home built by developer/hospitality owner.
I think the financial crash was not kind to them, but they still live there (or did up to recently, at least).

I had heard ages back that planning was not necessarily in place for all the “bits added on”, but it was only hearsay so perhaps someone else knows more?

i was told by a local it was a replica of a disney castle,they were living in mobile homes on the site. also that the building didnt conform,it looks worse up close,been there .
