Clear bra vs Ceramic coating vs both?

    I'm going to treat my civic type R with ceramic coating but I'm wondering would clear bra be better or perhaps even ceramic coating with partial clear bra on the front end sort of deal.

    What do you guys reckon?

    For the best protection, PPF(Clear-Bra), is far superior to a ceramic coating. But it is also quite a bit more expensive!! No matter what is told to you, there is only a very limited amount of abrasion resistance a ceramic coating can give you. It won't protect against a key scratch for example, or stone chipping(there is the hope that the extra slickness of the surface being ceramic coated may help with the chip not digging in, but the likelihood is extremely minimal). You can of course decide to only PPF the impact sensitive areas of vehicle, such as the bumper, and partial lower coverage of the bonnet and front wings.
    Most PPF now is selfing healing to a certain point, so the application of wet or dry heat, even heat from the sun, can help re-level the polyurethane and thus leveling out swirling and light scratches. As you mentioned, you can ceramic coat the rest of the car, and even the PPF, to help maintain the condition of the paintwork and make wash maintenance easier.

    Ceramic coatings offer no protection against stone chips.

    You could do both - clear bra the front and ceramic the rest but it would be an expensive exercise.

    Hard to know exactly, but I firmly believe you get what you pay for. There isn't many PPF installers in Ireland in truth. I know Padraic in Flawless Detailing in Drogheda is Xpel trained and accredited by them. If you join the Irelands Detailing Enthusiasts facebook group, you might find more answers in there.
