Glad this thread has been resurrected, as plan on getting it in next couple of weeks as cows are due to start calving in a month or so, Wondering how the people who got it are finding it now after a couple of years in use, are ye still using it and would you recommend it. I see you have it Larthehar and would recommend it. That's good to hear as if it works it would suit me down to the ground, I work only ten mins from home and could easily head out to cows if I got a text, also I wouldn't need to be out checking cows in middle of night.

    Hey Irish Beef,
I got one last year and wasn't impressed with it at all due to the amount of false alerts and it falling off cows tails.I live 7 miles from the farm so it's no fun going on a wild goose chase at 3am!

Well i have noticed that with 1st timers it is generally 3hrs after the 1st message but with cows it is only about 1.5hrs.. now we have charolais, i do know different breeds are different.. you do get pure complacent with it though and wait for the message.. the only issue is sometimes one isn't enough!!

Usually those competitions are only looking for people's information to see who's interested.

Using your phone in the shed where you intend using it, you can go into settings on your phone and you should be able to search available networks. If any network features in this list you are laughing.
Also i have never heard of a free trial by Moocall, so i would be sceptical of using that route if you are interested. Go the official route, too many scams out these days.

I have one btw and it is the best yoke i ever bought... no more unnecessary checking of calving cameras during the night!
It's a 60 day money back money guarantee if you are not happy with it you can send it back for a full refund within 60 days. That sounds not right to me, what would stop people buying it and sending it back before 60 days. Sounds more like a sales gimmick, you'd want to check out the small print when buying.

There's probably small print alright. I'd imagine if you sent it back after "trying it" on 30 or 40 cows in 60 days they might be slow to refund you but if you were telling them it was on the cows and not working due to no signal they probably would refund you. They'll be able to tell anyway if it was on the cow sending texts.
They are good from what I've seen. I did see one cow calve with no text though. I rang them up and they were able to tell me there was some slight activity but not enough to trigger a text. That one was a totally unassisted calving where the cow didn't appear sick a couple of hours before the calf was seen. The device might have been a little bit too high on the tail too.
Generally it worked well though and you can set up I think 2 phones who both get the texts which is handy if you have someone else who helps with calving.

Used my moocall for first time this year, have they changed set up? Mine used to flash blue when working , tonight it was going red green and blue and didn’t seem to settle as on!!??

It flashes red, blue and green when its updating its software. It should settle on blue once finished.

Got one this year even though have camera but happens now and again that wouldn’t wake up to check it so handy in that way, be especially handy when cows are on the go slow in a couple of weeks

I used one all of last year and renewed my subscription again for this year. Found it a super job for my set up. Don't have a camera so gave me great peace of mind that I could go to sleep knowing that the text would wake me up if there was activity. Had a couple of false alarms but they were never too far off. The majority were dead on timing.

I let my subscription lapse, now they want 211 to reconnect, 150 for the year and 61 to reconnect. Might leave it, wasn't convinced, it might have come on a bit but I had a lot of false alarms first year

They updated software and mine seemed to be struggling to go onto the flashing blue “working mode’.

Cow calved and no alert, I’ve brought it back to give it a good charge and hope this update will happen at hse before I put it on the next one !

Don't forget to reset it between cows or if it falls off. I like it. It's a bit expensive but if it saves one calf it's not. First time calvers can set it off hours before hand as they take longer, but in general I find the bag is out or nearly there with a cow on the first Tex and calved or fairly close to it by the second Tex.
