    Hi,

Looking for some ideas for family activities (kids 3.5, 8 and 11) besides the obvious ones (per farms, Brigits Garden etc.) around county Galway please.

    Thanks,
    pa.

Do they need to be organised? Portumna Forest Park, Monivea Woods, Coole Park, lots of places to explore. Perhaps look at geocaching, there is a forum https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1573 or geocaching.com so it is not just a walk in the woods. Local library have anything on?

Thanks for the replies. These are some of the places I visit/know of:
    Knockma hill (near Tuam)
    Barna woods (nice but small)
    Merlin Park woods
Ashford Castle grounds & Cong cave (I know, technically Mayo)
    libraries
    Salthill walk
    Renville woods and coast walk
    Athenry castle
Coole Park- haven't been out there yet
    Pet farms
    etc.

Places I've only heard of recently, looking for more like this, lesser known places:

Shantallow hill/woods. Just found out the name of this place recently. Haven't been there yet
    Alpaca walks- https://curraghdufffarm.wordpress.com/
    Rock climbing- https://galwayclimbing.org/

    Thanks,
    Pa

Riverside walk from dangan (nuig university sports centre) to cathedral. Very safe for young cyclists.
    Climb diamond hill
Walk/cycle around wind farm between furbo and maigh cullen.
Elemental outdoors centre near same wind farm (for older kids).
    Spiddal beach/walk
Barna woods walk to silver strand beach.

Also Junior Park run 2km run/walk in renville Park Oranmore every Sunday morning at 9.30am. Very popular and a lovely family activity. Parents can take part, watch or volunteer as marshals/timekeepers (I love volunteering as it’s a great feelgood activity).

Hopefully ok to dig this thread up again-

Just discovered Annaghdown pier- the kids love jumping in. the water is quiet pleasant as well.

The wooded trails in Cong & cave. Great fun, several trails, each has info as to how long takes to walk, distance etc.
