So hes in London tonight doing his biggest stunt ever, going in a box above London for 44 days living on water...was live on Sky tonight.

So what do you make of this guy?

I personally think hes a genius...and until prooven otherwise all his stuff is fake, then im going to keep believing its real. I mean even when he did that in New York standing on top of a 30metre(or was it 50) poll for 36 hours and then jumping off into boxes...

Amazing stuff...

First time I watched one of his stunts I was mildly amuzed, but it tired quickly. Whether he cheats or not, well I don't really care, I think he's a boring muppet, I'd watch big brother over this and i can't stand that.

The only time I've enjoyed David Blaine was when ol Avid was ripping the piss "can you feel the magic" "lets *not* call the cops, I think i know where it is"

The only good thing I can say about him is, fair ****s for making money from being a stupid dosy boring bastid.

I tend to agree with gideon, how this man can hold anyones interest is beyond me. Although I must confess to being tempted to watch it either to see him plummet to a watery grave or become a dribbling loon. But Im sure they will show either on the news

They were saying on the show before he went up in the box that he may suffer psychological trauma and be driven mad by the isolation. However after talking to David himself, he seems like he's already a loonatic! He was talking like a atoner!

Maybe after 44 days he'll come out a normal human being, although I hope he dies for my amusment, I could do with the laugh!

(I'm honing in on this bit as even I can appreciate why people sometimes call Beckham a "genius" on the football field but I can't see how the term could be applicable here at all)

I wouldn't call him a genius, but some of his magic tricks are very impressive even though you know its a scam.

Don't quite see the interest in the standing still on a platform for many days stunts but I admit I will probably wander down to see him over the thames at some point.

Im a big fan of his stunts. Whether they are real or not...i dont know. I like to think they are and well, no one can proove me wrong. There hugely entertaining and i like the climax thats created.

And for what it's worth, I think he's a looper.
I have seen a few of his "street magic" shows, which were mildly entertaining. But this item is pure crap, and dangerous too boot.
Plus, the guy has a major ego problem, did anyone hear his comment when asked if he compared himself to Harry Houdini?

Do a quick search on google and you quickly find sites which tell you how he does all his tricks. All of his stunts are tricks the genius is the intricate ways in pulling them off.

or you could just buy his book and he explains them on amazon. he only tells more how its done not give them away. the sites which say this is how he does it...are all assumptions. people have tried catching him out before but he doesn't give.

If i had the money I would have flown over there to throw stuff at him altough it was pretty high so a gun with a tranquilser dart lets see the anoying b&stard stay standing then or else I could have put bricks in the boxes but alas i missed my oportunity. For his new stunt if I swiched the water in the tube with piss now that would by funny

I am sick of this guy. This tripe goes to show the dysmally low excuse for entertainment that exists today.

I read his so called "biography" and I found it more like a bloody magazine. Its mostly just badly written drivel mixed with some nuggeted magic tricks.

David Blaine is 100% an image. A person with his evident lathargy could never possibly have in any way devised this gargantuan event, which will no doubt draw the masses of Londoners with nothing better to do. Im certain his whole career is driven by many writers/trick devisers, managers, advertisers etc. working behind the scenes, who get little or no credit.

He tries so hard to present himself as a deep guruish mystical type, but read his book.. he really is nothing more than an inflated fairground attraction.

I think he sucks. Attention whore, look at me I'm standing on a pole for 36 hours. Clap clap Mr.Blain you've gone through extreme discomfort. For my next magic trick, I'm gonna go in to some hollow ice cube, and wait there for 44 hours.

I prefer his street stuff. Y'know the things when he's not just waiting around doing nothing to see how long a human can last without going nuts. It's boring. However I'd be the kind of person who desperately wants to know how the trick works. That's the best part of the trick. So I don't really like any of his work. I just hate the street magician thing less.

His smaller street tricks were good to watch. Ever since I saw the 'It'll be alright on the night' with himself and Eamonn Holmes I thought he was a right nutter with some issues.

That ice block trick was all fake.

Well, first of all...he is SEXY! whoa I would do him in a second...
next, he has mastered the the art of illusion...he is the david copperfiled of this generation.
I remember being amazed by copperfiled growing up, now our kids will have this guy, every generation has one.
I think its great entertainment, gets the mind working ya know.
A lot of people dont like things they cant explain, or things that make them think...I love it
Oh, and did I mention that he is drop dead sexy!

What really pissed me off was during that Frozen in Ice spectacle, he was (as usual) shiteing on about "Pleh, it's art, pleh?, not magic, pleh, I'm not doing this for publicity".

What Copperfield has that Blaine doesn't:

A personality.
Charm.
The ability to form whole sentences in under a minute.
Wit.
He's managed not to piss me off so much that I don't root for him to fail miserably.

I'll be cheering the box (and lending it moral support) over the next 44 days.

I watched about 15 seconds of it this morning 14 hours in..... he looked like he was cracking up already. I can't stand the guy I hope he goes loony and is locked up.... without food for 6 months.... and its televised, with torture.....

David White apparently. Blaine is his middle name. "Blaine" certainly sounds a little more newsy than "White", which sounds like the kind of surname you have if you like to kill people with lead pipes in conservatories.

Nothing wrong with changing your name. Ask Reg Dwight, Richard Starkey, Harry Webb, Ramon Estevez, Michael Douglas[1] and David Kotkin. And Keith Richards, who's put the s back since:rolleyes:. And lots of others.

Yep, his real name is David Blaine White so he didn't really diverge that much from his original moniker.

Also, I don't know why everyone is so annoyed with this guy? Sure his 'weirdo' schtick is getting a bit old now but I'd still rather live in a world where people like him were dominating the l.c.d. wing of the entertainment industry when the only alternative is a legion of dead-eyed 'celebrities' who's only talent is to stand in front of a camera look pretty and smiling a lot .

I love the guys street magic (illusions/camera trickery) but got inspired when he did the ice thing. When I found out the ice thing was faked I got fed up with him. I'd like to know if this plastic box is actually faked or not but also don't care that much either way. Either he is doing another scam for popularity or he is doing it to save face for the frauds that his buried alove or frozen in ice were. Either way he is doing it for 'art' and not the core reason being - pushing the limits to the extreme. I would be interested iin someone pushing the limits but not if the primal reason is for 'art' and popularity
