I’m just wondering can they stop me. When I phoned out of courtesy to enquire they said that it may not be permitted. Legally can they stop me?

Are you living in a house/townhouse/apartment?

Are you freehold/leasehold? (I take it as you're dealing with an OMC you're leasehold?)

Realistically it is a question of 'what can they do about it?' and 'what will be the impact on you if they object after you do it?'

Get a solicitor to answer these questions, and remember you are part of the management company. The managing agent WORKS for the management company... so asking the agent is not asking the official management company.

Ask for a vote at the next AGM, and make sure you bring along plenty of buddies from the neighbourhood who will not object.
