Sex education is a load of horse**** i hate the American feel to it even though its set in the UK, I couldn't go beyond the first episode

I do get where you're coming from, it's a real mish mash. The locations were bizzare, was it trying to pander to an American audience?

I tried ignoring it though and it did get better.

Watched first two episodes of "American horror story" and they were weird but I enjoyed it.

Not sure my wife is sold on it but hopefully its like breaking bad where if you persevere its worth it.

Would you believe I've only ever managed 4 episodes of Breaking Bad?

Found it SO slow. Is it worth sticking with?

I couldn’t even finish the first episode. Not interested in ever giving it another go.

Thought I was the only person who's never seen it. :)

    I'm guessing Big Brother?

I never watched Breaking Bad myself, it just never interested me.

Watched the first season at 1 point. Gave up on it and then a year or so later gave it another go from the first episode on and watched the entire series in 1 go basically.

Get to the second series and you'll be hooked, it's the best TV show ever made however the first series is a very slow build.

I love BB but this BS gets on my wick. Some people don't like it so it's not 'the best TV show ever made' for them. Who even says that after primary school?

Of course some people don't like it and that's fine. I should have added, in my opinion.

    Which series?

I found them very variable in quality but really enjoyed a couple of them

Season 1, I love Jessica Lange!

I think my wife and I watched about 4-6 of the first episodes and got bored when it was on its last season. Went back around half a year later cause people kept raving about it. We sort of persevered till season 2 and it just too off. By end of season one we were really into it. Not for everybody I’d say and while it took us a long time to get hooked once we were in we were all in... Loved it.

Watched abducted in plain sight.. wow. Unbelievable what went on. Well worth a watch.

Finished Russian Doll, Id pretty much echo what others have said on here, Defiantly worth sticking with.
Natasha Lyonne bugs the hell out of me, and the first two episodes can be hard to watch at times. They over play the whole hipster new yorker thing to annoying levels, but if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded with some of the best TV you'll see this year.

Gonna take your word for it about Russian Doll. Watched the first episode and half the second.

The main character is pure marmite, urggh.

I wanted to throw something at the tv.

I'll persevere on the recommendations of a few on here.

That's part of the charm of this show, I don't think that you are not supposed to like her.
The way she talks to people, the arrogance such as her meeting in work, smoking anywhere

The Ted Bundy Documentary is really good ,I knew a good bit about him but still loads of stuff I hadn't seen before .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,860 ✭✭✭✭inforfun

Most Bundy stuff i had seen was 1 hour documentaries or only part of 1 hour documentaries.
This one is of course way more detailed.

She is quite an annoying character. I kinda feel like it would have worked better if she had been more likeable, like more of a 'lovable rogue'. Less of that over-acted New York schmuck, that accent felt very forced or something?

We got American Crime Story a bit earlier here in Germany so I've watched the whole thing already. Gotta say, it's fantastic TV that really stays with you afterwards. That Cunanan's spree culminated with the murder of Gianni Versace is obviously the thing that makes it 'noteworthy', so to speak. But the way that the show gives equal weight to each of his other victims (well, each bar one), humanising those who might otherwise be 'footnotes' in the story due to their not being household names (arguably with the exception of property developer Lee Miglin), really emphasises the human tragedy contained in what was and could easily have remained merely a media sensation.

The show also portays a sympathetic characterisation of Andrew Cunanan, an intelligent and remarkable, yet ultimately deeply damaged and sociopathic person. And he is the focus of the show, not Gianni Versace, as the title may mislead. My one complaint is that the viewer is, to a degree, lead to feel empathy and sympathy for a person who wrought so much destruction and misery upon others. But I suppose it's this complexity that makes him such an interesting person for those of us on the outside looking in.

The human stories contained within, focusing on the different experiences of gay men in an era still within recent memory, yet quite remote in terms of the acceptability of homosexuality in wider society, are incredibly touching and tragic. And this is the real power contained in the series.

Seemed to sound a lot older than she looked I thought or maybe that's just how she sounds anyway.....

Natasha Lyonne has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, I'd imagine that's very much her own voice.

I'm quite enjoying Russian Doll, her character is thoroughly unlikeable but I'm pretty sure she's written to be annoying. As are her terrible friends.

Ran out of steam the last couple of seasons, but in its prime it was brilliant.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

The Assassination of Gianni Versaci is 10/10 for me. So compelling, and like you said, it deeply humanizes everyone involved. Really enjoyed it.

That's pretty much her own voice if you listen to her being interviewed.

I was on the fence after two episodes but stuck it out. It's very clever the way it changes your perception of the characters gradually.

Yep it's been her voice since American Pie.

There is a TV3 series called Jack Taylor on Netflix was going to give it whirl but the ridiculous Oirish accent from the Scottish actor is woeful and a cringey dialogue. It was off within 30 seconds. Can't make good TV in this country. Anyone seen it?
