A few sudden deaths in the upper echelons of these so called "freedom fighters" would soon have their foot soldiers running back to mammys.

Would you be at all familiar with Irish history?

no i cant believe that, but i do think they are very fearful of Brexit and will use the Backstop to help stymie it. this puts us in a very unenviable situation. nothing new there.

all this talk about protecting the integrity of the EU's borders is just that. Eastern european countries like Hungary tried quite rightly to protect its' borders from mass migration. The EU was very critical of them & Mamma Merkel did everything in her power to twart them.

This thread is about Irish republican thugs setting off a bomb in Londonderry. No one is disputing there are scumbags from all sides. The difference is that I have never read anyone here praising loyalist terrorists. But I have read many on here who praise the provo terrorists.

Stroke city is turning into a horrible place. There are numerous undertones of Hating anything unionist and I wouldn’t feel safe having a city break there tbh.

It seems Irish republicans won’t be happy until they kill someone. No change there.

Didn't loyalists and security force personnel work hand in hand on many operations? Including the Dublin and Monaghan bombings?

Thats a pity as there will be lots of things going on with the 400 year celebrations of the walls, you know the biggest unionist thing in the city

Ah catch yourself on with the melodrama. I'm from Derry and a mixed background. Not one of my extended family would feel unsafe visiting the city. The Apprentice Boys exist largely hassle free in the city. The likes of lodges from afar and Gregory Campbell are what gives the city a bad name in the eyes of Unionism.

Derry as a city has been very progressive when it comes to trying to appease both sides of the divide, going back a long time.

From sharing the mayor role, to loyalist marches with usually zero problems.

I think you have a chip on your shoulder about Derry, that's all.

I disagree, Tim is a balanced chap, he has a chip on both shoulders. :)

If you are going for a break for a weekend up in that part of the world, you would be better off going half an hour or an jour east along the coast there. My partner and I found the people around Bushmills and that neck of the woods were much friendlier than the people around Derry, even to a couple from "the south". And the drink was better too.

Too many Fenians and taigs in Derry for a lot of people's tastes I'd say. Regardless, there were half-a-million visitors to the Fleadh Cheoil in 2013 and 100,000 every October for the Halloween festival.

Maybe someday the orange/unionist parades will attract visitor numbers like that rather than see people flood out of the north in mid July.

Yes. Setting Northern Ireland on fire has always been part of the EU Grand Plan, dating all the way back to the 1970s. The cunning divils have been waiting and waiting, and if we`re not careful they will use Brexit as an opportunity to get what they want and take the most powerful nation on the continent (Northern Ireland) to it`s knees.

    Or something like that.

What an odd thing to say? Do you have a Liam Adams was a good republican flag hanging proudly outside your home?

I'm pretty sire Labour, the SNP, Liberals and Plaid Cymru voted against the deal as well, or don't they count?

well that's the end of PM May. she's been floored by a big slice of junker fudge. nothing new. just more EU nonsense.

the House would be stark raving mad to accept that nonsense we witnessed last evening.
What will gall some MPs most is the (not so) veiled threats from junker.
And him in the CHURCHILL building spouting german! the irony of that wont be lost on the ERG or Dodds.

time to get rid of Treesa and push on with Brexit and respect the vote of the people.

They'll take the crumbs they're given and like it. Nothing has changed drastically with this deal, it's just repackaged enough to convince the plebs to back it.

with any luck they'll ditch treesa and elect someone with the vision to push Brexit through as voted for by the people.

no more silly talk of 2nd votes, no more faffing about, no more dashing across to junker & barmier.

they need to sell the vision of Brexit and push on with it.
