NCT test question - 2004 C 180 Kompressor

2004 Mercedes 1.8 C Kompressor

The indicator arm / lever will not stay in position on going right (although the indicators work fine but I have to hold it there - just a slight inconvenience) - works fine for going left.

Marked as VISUAL - MINOR by Tester.

Does this mean it will fail if I do not fix it.

Seems to be an expensive fix from what I see online - steering wheel / airbag etc has to come off and the price of the unit is somewhere well over a hundred I think - not even sure what is needed. Thank You.

Yes will need to be fixed before NCT disc issued...

Minor Result

Should you receive this result, it means that the vehicle has passed the test with minor faults recorded. The vehicle should be repaired and represented at the test centre for a re-check before a NCT Certificate can be issued.

Here's one off a 2007, the model changed during 2007 so this may be the correct one for your car or may not, if you had the part number you would know...

UPDATE:

I suppose Merc owners here know the Merc forum - like this one it is very helpful - it is at benzworld.org - for info.

A guy on it in New Zealand looked up the part number for me when I gave him VIN.

This must be the crappiest unit ever made by Mercedes - I have been in every breakers in Dublin inc the main Merc one - they all just laugh and say there is not a day that passes that somebody does not turn up looking for one.

There is one down the country 115 euro to get delivered - and here is one online - I am tempted to have a go at it myself though not a DIYer - but at worst I will have part going to garage.

This car has passed the test six times with the exact same fault - annoying - it just depends which tester you get.

Yeah Mullingar - could be buying trouble if they all seem to break eventually - Your links are not right one but this one is correct part number and should be about 140 euro from Newcastle, I reckon - better get it before Brexit :eek:

Best of luck fitting it, take your time and take photos of everything as you take it a part to assist putting it back together, no rush, go at your own pace.
