Temps gone up to 3.5c in Laois and light rain as just started to fall ...just cold and miserable now.

With a hard freeze forecast tonight roads will be truly treacherous after all this precipitation. If snow sticks anywhere after rainfall the place will be like an ice rink.

Yup. Which makes the fact that many schools in Cork are closed til 11am today particularly bizarre. This decision was made late yesterday afternoon. By then it was obvious (and this isn't hindsight, I posted this immediately yesterday) that this morning would be fine for travel in Cork but Friday morning could be lethal.

Dry so far in Dublin 15 but the overcut by the front has driven the temp up by 7 degrees in 3 hours, now just some dew on the windscreens that were frozen hard a short time ago. There'll be no snow for the Capital from at all today this below 150/200m im thinking, similar to Tuesday morning's snowline on the hills.

Only real hope is when the sun sets I'd say.

OK you know best; thought it was the other side would be bad... stay safe whatever! towards Killarney with the bends etc. would never drive past avoca in bad weather

The junction/peak at avoca looked very dodgy yesterday, lots of sheet ice, I didn’t see it for myself but saw photos.

Also I’ll be towing a trailer and not too happy about driving on icy roads with it.

Roads around Sligo town decent.. but car parks and estates still lethal.

Don't really want much more snow as have to drive to Knock Airport tomorrow and despise driving in icy weather!

Automatic station. One would hardly give any credence to the precipitation type versus a visual obs.

No fresh snow in Castlebar when I left but there's a cm or two on the ground in Claremorris and it's still coming down heavy.

save the trouble and jazz it up

Could be seeing something later in Dublin or Wicklow from the NE snowstreamers if the wind is in the right direction (around 1am ish)

That south east wind really killing any chance of snow for now in most of leinster

Will be interesting to see when the front begins to pivot. Certainly more chance of snow across a wide area than I thought this time yesterday. We just need a bit of intensity further east and the wet bulbs will begin to drop later too.
