By September Eir Sports probably won't have anything worth watching other than the world cup. It looks set to lose the Pro14 and Heineken Cup.

Wait, why is Eirsport losing the Pro14 - they signed a 3 year deal last year?

Ah this is just broadband. Sky tv are installing in the new house for free as we've been with them so long.

Do you get the eir sport channel through sky tv? Seems like a no brainer to go for the freebie

Inlaws moved from sky to eir. They say the quality of support has plummeted. Unless you're getting fibre from eir, avoid.

No it's extra. I was thinking it's a no brainer as well we've eir for bro asdband on a business contract in our current place and have had very few issues in 10 years.

Both of us work from home regularly and do a lot of Skype calls (up to four hours a day) so unless sky was amazing I'd stick with Eir

Someone sent it on to me, I hadn't realised at the time that the account was churning our videos like that. I still wouldn't believe that the comments are legitimate from different Irish people with one account each though.

if you were to read Donald Trumps Tweets without knowing who's account it was, you'd probably assume it's a bot. There is a lot of crazy out there and even more stupid.

Not the Pro14 sorry, my bad. Just the Heineken Cup.

Same service pretty much. All runs on the same Fibre/DSL infrastructure.

Eir customer support is brutal as it's outsourced, but they also control the lines. If you've a line fault you'll get an eir engineer out, and in general Eir tend to prioritise their own customers. Although BT and Sky will tell you different but it's true.

Have a look at Vodafone, they tend to be a little cheaper than both.

I switched to Eir last year for all the rugby. Their broadband is brutal compared to Virgins. WiFi is atrocious and my wired desktop's Internet drops for no reason far too often. Fairly sure I'm going to switch again when my 18 months are up

Yes. And those crazy people write the content that is being posted by bots

I’d been having that issue too, but did the obvious thing lately that I’d never bothered trying (because it never worked before) and ran the diagnostic. There was some IP address issue that the diagnostic resolved and it’s all good since.

It's worth noting that Eir and Sky fibre broadband will probably be identical. (unless it's eir gigabyt). Same cable, same ****ty copper to the exchange, same throttling. So if the price is the same your choice is free pro14 and world cup with eir. Or better customer service with sky.

I should have been clearer. I meant their gigabit offering (I'm reading the lower case 'mb' on the linked site as bit, not bytes as you say, but I could be wrong) - https://www.eir.ie/broadband/1000mb-fibre/

I've signed up recently to eir, only required a 12 month contract, so might plan on changing before the price is hiked up post-12 months.

It takes a special breed to like musicals. I'd rather have my ears chopped off.

There's no valid excuse for replacing a dialogue scene with a song.

Go see Blood Brothers the next time it's on near you. I guarantee you'll be converted.

Definitely. Wouldn't be a huge musical fan either, but Blood Brothers is brilliant

Anyone used any of those sleep tracking apps? Or are they just BS?

Yeah I find them handy, I can track where Thomond is sleeping any night of the week.

Some lovely hedges he's chosen over the past while in fairness.

The fitbit one seems to be fairly good, but admittedly I'm basing that on my own anecdotal evidence, but if you have one, recommended. I tried one or two just on the phone before I got it, but they seemed ... open to inaccuracies.

How could a phone measure your sleep?

You're supposed to leave it down on your mattress near your head and it uses the mic and other sensors to monitor your breathing and any movements etc.

Absolutely no idea if it works though, I'd imagine there's a heap of things that would cause it to not get correct readings.

I get all the data it collects but what do you actually do with it? If you have a habit of going into a light sleep at 4.30 a.m the phone can't do anything about that.
