Property prices in Spain and Brexit

    What are the consequences of Brexit on Spanish (or indeed any European) property prices? Are ex-pats likely to sell in droves and return to UK or will the annual flow of Brits to the sun for retirement come to an end?

    Well why don't you start with giving us your analysis of the situation so far? Or are you expecting us to do your homework for you???

    For instance what are the reasons that would cause current ex-pats to decide to return home? What are the permanent residence requirements for Spain? How easy is it for UK citizens to meet those requirements? What about healthcare, who cover's their current costs?

    Buddy living out there sees no change...property prices remain low though..

    Was down in Spain last week. Weve rental properties there and demand from UK for holidays is still the same as it's been for years. No huge increase in properties for sale local to us but properties don't move quick. The brits living there don't seem to be rushing home but they are worried about pensions, investments & other assets they have in the UK. However there is a divide of brits who think brexit is nuts and others who are for brexit but have no intention of going back. They've started building again down near us and seems to be a load of new developments taking place

    I'm planning buying down Murcia way this year...how are property prices? Seem flat?

    where we are on the costa del sol the property prices for the likes of a 3 & 4 bed villa arent too dissimilar to prices in dublin but theyve been stagnant for years and properties dont move very quick but they have never moved very quick and some places can be on the market a few years before a sale. We tried to sell one place a few years ago and was on the market a while with only 1 viewing so we pulled it

    Unemployment at over 14% in spain, there s a recession looking like already under way. I dont think it will be pretty in.spain in a few years.

    The unemployment rate in Spain has been declining since about 2013 when it stood at about 26%..... There may well be a recession coming, but your analysis is not it!

    if you're an expat with decent pension recession might be better for ya...
