Looking at the dates and times in the email, it looks as if they've made room for everyone that was there Thursday and Friday

As in nobody got rejected ?

Would I be right in saying

I agree, there are a lot of options. I'm guessing that means that very many of us survived the last stage.

whoever was in attendance on thursday and friday and passed those tests. it's quite possible that ALL those who attended inchicore last week got asked to come back for phase 2

Got the email, thank god. Was it just how I read the email or did it sound like they’ve invited everyone that sat the tests in Inchicore to the next stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭Rootsblower

I very highly doubt it, they tried it in our place and didn't get away with it plus the union wouldn't allow it, it would be silly to have a handful of drivers paid by month and rest by week

Also just get an email for an invite to assessments this week ! I sat assessments on Friday just gone
I've spoken to a few drivers myself, including ex bus drivers that are still in training and they are paid weekly

Recent per way recruits from outside the CIE group all came in on monthly pay.

I reckon everyone HAS to do all phases, and are then judged overall... just my opinion

Well done this is for stage 4?

Phase 2 of tests in Inchicore. I think the next one is actual interview, then it's the medical.

Nearly certain you're missing a test.

Computer dexterity test, computer screen with coloured buttons and pedals etc.

Nearly certain that has to be a test before interview

We already did those online. They want us to do them again is all

There is still a separate specific test on a computer using pedals and coloured buttons

Well done everyone. Does anyone know what all the stages are? 2 sets of exercise days in Inchicore, interview, medical and pre employment checks?

interesting video, didn't know about this one, seems fair to get candidates to use it

There are two interviews not just one. I think the first is with a panel and the second is with management

Not in irish rail they didn't.

There was a room between reception and the male toilet with those computers in it, seen them myself. Plus my colleagues were tested on them recently

Guessing game really. There was about 20 in a room and guessing that at least two rooms for each session. Three sessions a day over two days, so I would guess in the region of 250, but there's no guarantee that other sessions weren't busier or less busy

Would they not have just got us all to do a whole day of testing last week then? Why split it into two separate sessions, it makes it more awkward for people and costs them more?

Does anyone know of anyone who attended last week and hasn't been invited to the next set of tests?

I’m guessing it’s split into two different sessions for set up reasons. Purely logistics. All last weeks were done on paper this weeks are on computer, bar the questionare we’ve to fill out.

But if you read the email they’re still counting this as phase two. Rather than phase 3. So I’m guessing they’re counting all the aptitude scores together in one, which would make sense if you think about it.

If the huge figure of applicants is correct it could simply be to see whose dedicated enough to take another day off work. An easy way to dwindle the numbers. Considering there’s only 100 jobs which is probably only 25 for this recruitment drive.

Pay will likely be monthly. Those training now are probably all CIE employees so moving them might be a problem not worth fighting.

Unions have bigger problems to worry about rather than rookie pay frequancy. They want a monthly system so chances are unions and management will use it as a bargaining chip in future.

The invite to last week's test was titled 'Phase 1 assessment invite', this most recent one is titled 'Phase 2 assessment invite' so they are counting them differently to us, the initial application and first test that we did online don't seem to qualify for a number...:)

It's fine for me as I live in Dublin but there were plenty of people who had travelled quite far to be there last Friday, it's not very fair on them to split it if the intention was that everyone was going to be asked to do all the tests.

Well just on your point about people travelling to be there

This came up when I moved over to bus eireann, I was asked in the interview about where I'd be living in relation to the depot, because of the nature of work and rest etc.

I expect it to be even more strict with the rail and the fact you'll be doing 12hour shifts. They dont want you to have an hour commute either side of that

So anyone from the country applying for Dublin would have to consider moving closer to the depot !

I'm one of them BTW ! And if I get the job I'll have a set up 10-15 mins away

Sorry my mistake. I’m not sure then, my previous answer was just an educated guess.

If I’m not mistaken I think one of the eu regulations for train drivers are that they must live an hour from where their depot is. So if they are traveling from far out then I imagine once their application is fine combed through they’ll be denied on the basis of geography?
