Any one an idea on how many are going for the 100 jobs?

there's been plenty of figures mentioned, but 17,500 was the one that was announced with 2 days to go before deadline for applications. I'd say with rule of thumb, there are quite few for Dublin. There was a chap from Waterford who applied for Dublin fancying his chances rather than Waterford.

as far as travelling back to ireland to do the test, we were told the phase 1 of the tests in inchicore were 1 week and phase 2 is week later, followed by interviews and medicals, so i take it that the process is a weekly thing. will you be able to come back for it, and if given the initial 32 week training course, will you be able to come back to live here as soon as the course starts?

Has anyone from Limerick, Galway or Sligo been informed yet?

Has anyone heard back who has done the tests in inchicore on Thursday and Friday last week?

No not yet. I reckon it'll be today that people start hearing. Don't have high hopes for myself, I don't think I did very well.
They have form for responding when you're successful and leaving you hanging when you're not. So keeping an eye here is a good indicator

Well best of luck to everyone including yourself AssaultedPeanut. Hopefully we all know where we stand by the end of the day.

I haven't heard of anyone from these areas getting anything back.

I'd imagine Dublin Cork etc are in more urgent need so they're dealing with those candidates first.

There might only be a handful of drivers needed for the west coast depots so they could be processed later in the year/early next year

I work for An Post. Anyone know if I can carry my pension over? Semi state body and all that. Obviously if I was lucky enough to be offered a position.

You may be able to carry service over the rules were changed some years ago to allow movement in the public service including semi state altho most HR dept don't actually know this and there are some exceptions.
my wife moved from state to semi state and back and kept hers. You can check on the public service hr site.

    Few things;
I know it's jumping the gun but if anyone can shed light...

Wages: 47,000 starting salary after tax 35,010.
    Is that correct?

Training: How long does it last? Is it paid? Is it 9-5?

I understand it's a long way to go, just putting it out there..

    Cheers

Starting wage is more like 48000

Training period is 32 weeks classroom and in a ideal world about another 4 to 5 months out on the trains with mentor drivers this usually runs to about 6 months.

Training is paid, generally hours are 9-5 but just keep in the back of your mind that your contract of employment will say your 5/7 worker 24 hr cover so they can bring you on any hours. When out training with a mentor driver you will do a range of shifts.

If it's weekly for current staff then I'd put good money on it being weekly for new staff too. No reason they would do two separate systems. Plus Union agreements etc

New entrants in some departments are monthly pay.
Any current staff who gain promotion are generally being moved to monthly pay.
I’d wager a few bob these new drivers will be monthly too.

I very highly doubt it, they tried it in our place and didn't get away with it plus the union wouldn't allow it, it would be silly to have a handful of drivers paid by month and rest by week

Also just get an email for an invite to assessments this week ! I sat assessments on Friday just gone

Well since I have seen new entrants to IR go on monthly pay and recently promoted friends go on monthly pay is what I am going on.

I've spoken to a few drivers myself, including ex bus drivers that are still in training and they are paid weekly
