Thinking of becoming a priest.

Anyone have idea what priests earn? Anyone I see are all driving around in new cars and generally accommodation is giving to your free. Very little work involved.

If I want the ride could always take a trip to Amsterdam or just hit another county on the beer.

Why waste the money when you have alter boys on tap?

Consider a name change first - 'Fr. Turdball' sounds like a bit part in Fr Ted.

Depends upon what you consider very little work, seeing as they’re usually busy seven days a week, even on Sundays when everyone else is taking a break, even their boss! :pac:

Aim for nothing less than being a Jesuit. The Jesuits, since Ó Bruadair's Longbriseadh of the 1690s, were the next best thing to the pope for all aspiring Irish. The big gloat of any family before the 'Longbriseadh' of the RCC itself in our generation was that they had a Jesuit in the family. Nevertheless, I wouldn't be too impressed with those European religious orders since they got the date of Easter wrong.

If you must align with the European orders, go all the way and become a mendicant Franciscan friar still walking the bóithríní in the missionary tradition of the Gael but preaching counter-reformation theology fresh from your time in the Irish Colleges on the continent before you escape off to the Irish College in Salamanca to write the Annála Ríoghachta Éireann following the usurpation of 1649.

PS: If it's money you're into, forget about Ireland. They're still collecting tithes in Germany in 2019:
For example, a single person earning €50,000 may pay an average income-tax of 20%, thus €10,000. The church tax is then an additional 8% (or 9%) of that €10,000 (€800 or €900) for a total of €10,800 or €10,900 in taxes.[9]

In 2017, Germany’s Catholic church recorded approximately €6 billion split across its 27 different dioceses, also known as church districts. This is in spite of the massive dip in attendance. According to the national German newspaper Handelsblatt, church attendance has dropped by more than 2.2 million attendees since the start millennium. Contrasted to 50 years prior, where attendance totaled over 11 million, the numbers are now a mere 2.5 million Catholics. The German Church also has a total fortune of at least €20 billion. The three highest profiting dioceses are Paderborn, at €3.5 billion, Munich at €2.8 billion, and Cologne at €2.6 billion...

If you're lucky enough to become a Catholic Church bishop in Germany, this could be you: 'Vatican suspends 'bishop of bling' over €40 million home renovation.

I've always said they should bring that into Irish law. See how many people label themselves as "Catholic" on the census after that...

:) Reminds me, I was Church Of Ireland when I worked in Germany (I suspect a lot of Irish are) They can't subtract the tithe for churches that have no presence there.

No worries about money, all you need to do is kiss the bishops ring every now and then...;)

So if you like surrounding yourself with little boys and girls, dressing up in long skirts and spending your life pushing a fairytale on all who will listen, have at it.
