The British may be responsible for a lot of bad things in Ireland and have done some terrible things to the Irish which will probably never be forgotten or forgiven but you can`t blame them for EVERYTHING-these people planting bombs could`nt give a toss for the people of Derry,if they did they would`nt be doing it.It`s a disgrace and is only hurting the ordinary people.

Who is blaming them 'for everything'?

Partition is the problem Rob. If we can't sort that then the problem will reoccur on a cyclical basis.

so if partition is the problem, what is your solution?
bombing/killing innocent people until they agree with you?

    End partition?

I normally advocate removing/fixing the problem first. Not sure 'not caring' cuts the proverbial mustard here.

and you're confident our Prostestant neighbours will go along with this great vision of yours?

    or do you care? :D

Don't you mean Unionists? There are plenty of Protestants and Catholics who couldn't give a monkeys.

Mind you, they could go the British route and just take over by murder and theft, then set up a 'democracy' after the fact.

Plenty of protestants (my wife and her family) who have no problem with a UI.

You'd have to wonder why someone who 'doesn't care' would now be worried what one religion would think of a UI.

Ok, that’s one solution, but why would the uk take the Republic of Ireland back?

Just an observation, but might it be better to agree to disagree? These seem like opinions that are poles apart and can`t be changed.

There won't be any. Ireland however will be complete and Ulster will be reunited under one jurisdiction.

Sad reminder of much darker times up North.

With a no deal Brexit and a potential hard border, expect to see more of this.

    Thankfully no casualties.

Whats the fascination with 'ulster' as a province though, you never hear calls to reunite Meath....

    Excellent plan Frankie.

The GFA process is the mechanism to sort it out. The majority of people on this island signed up to it. As we keep being told...that is democracy. When a majority opt for a UI, I will expect those democrats to see to it that it is carried out.

and if perchance a section of the pop dont, well we can just send up a few dozen Gardaí to explain your plan to them. Frankie can i just say a big Thank you to you.

i cant wait to see Arlene's face when you explain your plan to her. i just know she's gonna be so grateful to you for sorting this whole mess out.

i'm very excited, if only you knew...
Frankie did i remember to say Thank you?

What will it have to do with Arlene if a majority vote in favour? I sincerely hope someone in the Assembly would understand the internationally binding agreement the UK signed up to.

is that the assembly that collapsed in 2007 and hasn't been able to get it together since, despite the current Brexit situation looming?

i wouldn't worry about that Frankie. i have every confidence in them as i'm sure everyone that knows anything about how democracies function has too.

i'm off to bed now. Frankie i'm so excited about your new plan i dont know if i'll be able to sleep. :D

    2007??

I was assuming you had heard of the GFA. It isn't my plan, it is the plan of the UK and Irish governments, a roadmap for the future. Only one party in northern Ireland are unhappy with the plan...guess which one?
You should read it sometime too.

This thread is a prime example of the issue in Northern Ireland.

A few people shouting and point scoring, while the rest go "**** this," and leave yiz to it.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. Where's My Jumper was here specifically to jeer and feign not caring. He/she cares a great deal. It's fun outing people like that.

Not sure that would work. Look at the part of Ireland still in the UK. The richest part of Northern Ireland is poorer than the poorer part of Ireland. They haven't looked after it.

Completely flumoxes me how unionists in northern Ireland have not worked out yet that Westminster simply does not care about them.
Had the DUP not been in the temporary pivotal role they are in, the UK would have their deal, a backdrop would be in place and we would be preparing for a border in the Irish sea.

Simple as that. And it has precedence in the Anglo Irish Agreement and the GFA. If it suits Westminster, no amount of Never Never Never will matter.

Edward Carson had it sussed out.

In fairness, a terrorist organisation spent thirty years trying its hardest to **** it’s economy and scare off any form of investment

They didn't realise it was easier to do it by setting up 'milk the system' schemes and property scams or even fleecing charities for cheap hols.

Have a look at living conditions and prospects for northern Irish residents before any conflict began. In other words take the blinkers off and see what the true story is. Northern Ireland will always be populated by second and third class citizens if it remains in the UK.
