Let it cancel. When it's cut off ring up and hour later and that's the best deal you will get.

Have old Sky Go Extra+HD pack @26.50 pm and had VM B/B at 49.50pm. Will be looking to see what I can get - no issue sticking to Sky+ as can still use Magic Eye when needed for multiroom-ish or going to Sky Q.......Any ideas what I should be targeting?

I've got a 2TB HD box and a multiroom sub. I've been thinking about upgrading to SkyQ. I was round at a mates over Xmas and I was impressed with ultra HD.
I don't want to have the boxes connected to the internet constantly because it's poor in my area and I've a cap on my usage - so is it possible to upgrade and keep the multiroom sub?

No, Sky HD and Sky Q aren't compatible. And UHD is only available with SkyQ minis

Must be lots of people trying to cancel, long wait times on Friday and again today.
I hung up after 15 minutes.
Eventually got through and got Variety pack for 31€ pm (was 39€)

Cancelled my sky last week. Just wondering how easy/hard is it to sign up as new customer once contract is finished? Plan would be for wife to sign up under her maiden name. My box is outdated remote is fecked etc, so had no interest in the offers they made to keep me to stay.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

AFAIK there is no need to use maiden name. Maybe another poster can confirm?

    Agreed

Some posters have reported rejoining only a few hours after disconnection and getting great deals

Haven’t had the balls to do it myself though

Thanks for replies good to know. tbh if there are any obstacles I'd be happy enough with free to air for a while

Our promo deal on TV, Fibre Unlimited Broadband & Talk ended, jumping the price to €87. New customer price is €50. Rang to ask about better prices, told best they could do was €71.50. Told them to cancel. Lot of chat about content I'd be missing out on, was happy enough with that and happy to cancel. Got handed onto someone else to get the UAN to transfer the broadband and they give a "final offer" of €59. Renewed on that price.

They told me if I left I would have to pay for the equipment (Sky box etc.) if I rejoin in the future... don't know how true that is or the costs? I assume they'd bend on that if it got you back on board.

I am still on the Sky HD boxes etc.... no Sky Q yet

If I cancel and wait a few weeks...can I come back as a new customer on the 'old' box setup??? I dont want to be told that the only new installation is a Sky Q setup and that I would have to pull through new cable as the old cable cant support the Q stuff. That would be a nightmare for me (with built-in presses etc)... just too much hassle

I had sky HD with multiroom. Changed to Sky Q with same cables input but with Sky Q mini second box it no longer needs an input which is fantastic. So if it works with your current setup, I can't see the issue with Sky Q.

Phones/tablets can now act as multiroom and you can view recorded content from Q box on any of those devices. I got mine as a free upgrade for 15+ years with them. Sky Q is a great platform. Same costs as old subscription for me as my package is the exact same. Changed over via contact with Sky reps on boards.

My contract is up for TV and broadband. Rang yesterday but wasn't offered much discount and was also told it was increasing to 105. If I cancel to get the best new offer how long would I be waiting to have broadband reactivated. No issue with TV but don't want to be weeks without broadband.

Don't cancel BB, it cancels the wholeline, change to eir or VF

Got rid of sky years ago. Smart TV, With saorview, FreeSat and Netflix do the job if you don't need sports.

Have amazon prime too but only pay for that to get free delivery on shopping (yes coupled with revolut its worth it)

What kind of setup do you have to receive both sairview and Freesat? I'll prob go down this route for a while anyway. Is it one box that does both? Easy to flick between terrestrial TV and Freesat?

It's a sony tv with both built-in. Lots of TVs have both just make sure its freesat not freeview, flicking between is easy. just a push of a button

That's sounds good..... I thought there was. €150 installation fee minimum!!! Am paying €105+ a month and am getting fed up of same.

Was gonna ring to get better pricing.. but if they can instal Sky Q for free and keep me at €105 I might go for it. I don't have multi room but an extramini box in the kitchen would be handy for the wife and kids!!

I'm looking at getting rid of sky mini (multiroom box) as it's too dear. 17.50 a month now. Was told by 2 different agents that you can't watch recorded content from sky q box on a separate device. Can you tell me how to do this please?

You can have up to 4 other devices able to view any content, live or recorded from the sky Q box, once you are inside your network at home. The mini box does not have the ability to save content. You record but it saves to main box.

Download sky Q app, find device on same network and away you go. Similar to sky go (for outside home network) you can change one device per month. Deregister via app and register another. Works on Apple and Android devices. Pretty sure it extends to Xbox and PS4 also but I haven't tried that.

I would have got rid of multiroom only for this. Utterly pointless on previous Sky HD.

Damien thaks for that. I can now see my recordings on my phone..great! I wonder why both sky people told me it wasn't possible?

Can you explain what you mean when you say you would have gotten rid of multi room only for this? I am getting rid of multi room BECAUSE of this. Just making sure I'm doing the right thing!

On a different note I now have 3 different sky apps on my phone. My sky, Sky Go, and Sky Q. All necessary?

My Sky is account and offers - rarely used
Sky Go - out and about - limited content unless you have sports
Sky Q - for viewing sky on any device inside network. Multiroom for other devices.

Without multiroom the Sky Q app becomes useless. Sky Go becomes a chargeable service without multiroom also. The mini box for second room does not need an input other network connection so you can move it anywhere in your house. Before this, Sky HD multiroom was fixed to one TV and one location due to input from dish required.

Ok, so if I get rid of multi room (€17.50) Sky q app will stop working?
