I laughed a lot too but I was glad that they showed the human cost.

Yeah as funny as it was, it was also quite sad. A lot of people got badly burned. Felt especially sorry for the Bahamian caterer woman and the guy who had to leave his house down there

Currently most of the way through The Break, which is set in Belgium. Pretty dark, in some ways, but have enjoyed it.

Just finished - Really enjoyed it. You could be critical of elements of it but not going to get into it. All I can say Is I enjoyed it a lot on the whole

I wouldn't be too worried about them now as $140k donated so far

Fyre was very good. So many people you’d want to slap in the face though.

My husband and I were in shock at the guy saying that Billy said “We’re not a problems-based company, we’re solutions-based”. I’m probably slightly paraphrasing there but you know the quote I’m on about. :D WTF does that even mean? If a solution is needed, there’s a concomitant problem. And all the talk of positive-thinking as if that was going to pull it all together.

Loved the straight-talking flight simulator guy at the beginning who said “You need to be thinking less about models and more about toilets!”.

    Two very strange bits:

    1) The guy almost proudly saying that they were pissing on and slashing other people’s tents.

    2) The guy saying he was fully ready to blow the customs guy to release the water. So. Many. Questions.

That part was ridiculous. The guy that said they pissed on the tents was possibly the guy I hated the most, him and Gavin (?)

He seemed to be the only competent person there, if they had left him in charge it might actually have gone ahead!

Was expecting more from Fyre considering the other documentaries Chris Smith has made but in the end it was an interesting story littered with unremarkable talking heads clips.

It's probably the weirdest come back I've ever seen on boards.

Finished You last night. Ending was great I thought.
Great to see a season wrap up and there are no lingering questions.

I started it yesterday and while i think its very good its confusing,is it a British school set in America in the 80's,the high school logo and jackets and the swim team are not very English and the girl living in the "trailer park"

Even the school name is odd. Maybe these were put in to make it more adaptable for a US market? There's also Otis's spectacular house, and the weird 1970s decor in some scenes. And yet the school classes and other aspects of the series are very British.

Once the series kicks in though you forget about these things as it is so sharp and well written. Some good acting too - Gillian Anderson is great in it.

Anyone recommend any 4k stuff? I have a new OLED TV on the way and want to salivate over it.

Plant Earth 2. Your jaw will drop.

I know! Firstly, is the customs officer even gay? Secondly, even if he is gay, doesn’t mean he’s going to automatically accept a random blowjob from someone as payment any more than a heterosexual person would. Thirdly, WHY would the guy even recount that story? I’d be saying nothing about that if I was in his shoes. Let others mention it and then it would just be treated as gossip that might not be true. But to admit it himself? Hubs and I breezed past that anecdote because we just didn’t know what to make of it.

Watched Fyre last night myself and yeah that blow job bit stood out! I didn't even get the impression that the silver haired management guy was gay to begin with so it really came out of left field. "I was going to take a hit for the team, I used mouthwash and all" lol!

It was a good doc, I enjoyed it. The madness of the financial planning by Billy was unreal though. I've read online that the $12,000 a ticket thing is largely a myth and that the average cost of tickets was actually $1,200. He only sold 5,000 so while the concert consultants said it would cost $50m to stage he only had around $6m in ticket revenue. Which was obviously already spent on supermodels and paying influencers to tweet about it.

And then at the end of it all for him to get out on bail and set up yet another ticket scam, he is obviously completely deluded.

What's the story with Netflix and subtitles? I watched The Great Wall the other night. The Manadrian didn't kick in by itself. I had to turn on English subtitles to get all subtitles. Seems bizarre. I watched some of Ozark last night, some lines in Spanish - it was the same carry on. If this were traditional TV the translation would come on by default, where appropriate.

I was wondering the same thing, drives me nuts!!

Thoroughly enjoying Titans. Not normally a fan of the DC Universe but it's better than most of the Marvel shows on Netflix I reckon.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

that's std working in Facebook (particularly) or Google stuff - that's where he took it from.

"everything is rosy, la la la la la la la la la la la la...."

Inside Facebook’s ‘cult-like’ workplace, where dissent is discouraged and employees pretend to be happy all the time

The old gay organiser guy came across as a really genuine guy actually I thought - things were so fcuked up and delirium had set in that he actually took yer man Billy's "suck cock" line literally.

The guy slashing tents and pissing in them - and sort of being proud of it - symptomatic of the sort of group that were at this thing.

I found it interesting that the slick video with all the models sold the dream but all of the attendees shown were sort of not at all cool or good-looking people - they were hoping to buy into a world where they don't usually get to and up until the last minute were willing to ignore all the obvious red flags about the thing being a disaster waiting to happen.

gave Roma a try and found it boring as fvck and hugely overrated. More detailed review in the film thread.

Call My Agent is a pure joy, loving it, half way through season 2. So well written.

Sex Education is really good so far too. I'm surprised how much I like it. The cast are brilliant, and it is hitting just the right balance of sweet and funny and smart. The soundtrack is almost enough to make it worth watching alone, and I really like the odd retro vibe/aesthetics.

Buried deep in the recesses of Netflix...

Last night i found 'Return of the Living dead', a classic 80's zombie horror. It was an absolute blast.

Season 3 of Travelers has been a bit of a let down.

It's always been poised on the cusp of stupidity and I think it finally plunged over the edge. I'm finding it hard to keep track of what's going on - the plot has become very muddled.

Loved that guy. AND his jumper. I’ve decided to grant him membership to the Lovely Jumper Club. :pac:

I’m not sure about that Marc Weinstein dude. He was saying all the right things in the docu about what he thought Billy should done eg. start refunding ticket holders. But was he just trying to make himself look better and save face?
