Paolo Tuillio built a Stonehenge type deal in his back garden, and I remember vaugely a story about somebody building something similar on his farm despite planning objections and local unease.

There was a huge Stonehenge type structure built on Achill.

Fortunately your man has such a boring voice, and the circle was obviously absolutely visible that it couldn't be that interesting, so I lost interest and read the first para of the news article.

    That's the one.

Stonehenge itself was built in 1954.

That farmer forgot to include quartz stones.

The recumbent stone itself usually has quartz veins.

There's a theory that the circles were built and used by early farmers to make cereal crops germinate quicker, grow stronger and faster and yield more.
The outer stones being basalt (dolerite, look up dolerite batteries on youtube) or granite and the energy from them was concentrated and amplified by the quartz stones. Sacks of the cereals to be sowed were placed in the circle for a time and the seeds took that energy.

Of course it's all theory unless someone has a time machine.
