Obviously in terms of the actual cost but it seems in both cases the parent isn't able to fully provide for their child. Irresponsibe behaviour.

The parent fully provides in way of tax contributions from both parents used to fund the public schools they’ll send their children to.

We've reached peak obtuse on this thread.

They might prefer a private school and prefer a fabulous house in a coastal view in Killiney, and prefer a Maserati as a runaround, but they're working their holes off to do their best.
    Unlike our thead subject.

But i think you know this, and think you're being clever.

You're giving him too much credit. He's back on his usual wind up. Last time it was some stupid remark about how we all should be celebrating the Carrickmines deaths. Now it's accusing another poster of being irresponsible and claiming they shouldn't have had a child because they can't afford a private school.

The sad thing is that it’s the size of Margaret’s family that’s adding to the delay in housing her. She needs a 4 bed house at least.

The sad thing is that most of the travellers have families that are too big and thats why we will never be in a situation where we can provide enough social housing. Margaret herself is probably from a huge family and her siblings could all qualify for social housing.

Many immigrants coming here are from cultures where early marriage and non stop conception is the norm too. It wont be possible for one income earner in these situations to ever buy unless an area is totally remote and locals in remote areas dont want immigrants foisted on them. Immigrants represent 12% of the population at the moment but over thirty per cent of the "homeless" are non nationals, this figure could increase frighteningly if Brexit comes to pass and the UK doesnt have to take orders from the EU regarding migrants.

In this scenario the working class person renting privately is going to be screwed. The Government will need more houses to put immigrants and travellers and these houses will be in areas where rent is relatively cheap. Rent will rise in these areas and the low income worker who doesnt qualify for HAP will pay higher rent and not even get tax relief on same. This makes the prospect of getting a mortgage impossible. Any young person with ability and skill who can get out will and we will be left with increasing numbers reliant on welfare payments and few taxpayers to foot this bill.

No but I never said I condoned that , what I said is the council were accountable ALSO.
HOW are the council responsible? Seriously, there was nothing they could have done. They could have had 50 working fire extinguishers on hand and it would not have made a difference as the adults were unconscious. The adults acted irresponsibly and unfortunately they and the children paid the highest price.

My mother started locking the kitchen door when my brother went out because she woke up one night and smelled hot oil. She went downstairs and found my brother passed out on the couch in the sitting room. He had turned on the fryer in the kitchen and fallen asleep waiting for it to heat up. Fortunately it was an electric deep fat fryer with temperature control but it still could've ended up badly for us. If the house had burned down and killed the lot of us the only person responsible would've been my brother.

Or maybe you would blame my mother because she should have been psychic and predicted my brothers stupid behaviour and taken action before it happened. Of course you wouldn't. Just like you can't blame the council here. They could not have predicted that adults would behave so irresponsibly. They are in no way to blame here. It was an absolute tragic accident what happened. The adults got carried away and made a stupid mistake. The council could not have stopped that.

Honestly, I think you know at this stage there was nothing the council could do but you're digging your heels in because you can't admit you got it wrong.

They won't mix genders in bedrooms. Margaret has one daughter who will need a room for herself. The six boys can be split into two other rooms and of course a room for her highness.

I’d just put them in care and adoption

She’s a terrible mother, terrible person and pathetic role model with her criminality

You know you have to be particularly unaware to call me a liberal. You are a racist but you think that is normal for some reason. Want to tell us is it just travellers you are racist towards?

It’s quite interesting that there’s a number of threads from time to time regarding how travellers conduct themselves.....
I’ve yet to see one that raises how other groups in the country behave..... I think I’ll be waiting for one too....

Now maybe there’s a lot of racists or perhaps there’s something to it....

Think if we’re being honest a lot less people would have any issue about a polish/Latvian family moving in next door compared to a traveller one....and for good reason too!

I haven't read all the posts in this thread but some suggest that some of those who died were drunk or on drugs or unconscious. What's the evidence for that and were tests done to prove this?

Did you read the key point of the inquest?
Jimmy Connors Jr made a statement about all his brothers being drunk that night and one of them was smoking weed.

Jim Jnr said all the adults had been drunk when he left Thomas's portacabin just hours before the tragic events at 2am.

“The children went to bed at 8pm. Thomas was smoking his weed. All the adults were drinking in the kitchen. It was a good time, not a word of an argument. It was 2am when I was leaving and we were all drunk."

Seems the potential claim isn't looking to good. They can hardly sue the lad that caused the inferno.

The only responsibility the Council had was to make sure they caravans the council themselves placed there were the correct distance from each other.

The council didnt bring in the extra caravan, the travellers did and installed it too close to the existing trailer. Possibly the fact that the council would have known this caravan was too close and didnt tow it out may be dereliction of their duties.

The fire started because someone turned the oven up to its maximum setting and put a chip pan full of grease on top of it. The smoke alarm didnt go off because someone living on the site tampered with it. Whoever put the chip pan on then fell asleep(presumably) and none of the adults realised a fire was taking hold because as one witness said they were all drunk.

Margaret had claimed what happened in Carrickmines were deliberate murders and no accident.
