Crossover / SUV Petrol Options

    Hi,

    First child on the way so I am looking at buying a new car which will be a SUV Petrol type. Im looking at 2016 onwards and will be buying up north(Currently living up there).

    It will be Petrol as I dont do enough mileage to justify Diesel.

    Have about 15-16K(euro) to spend and can see there is a good range of options available within that budget.

    From what I see, the main model options which looks good are:

    Kia Sportage
    Nissan Qashqai
    Suzuki-Vitara
    Hyundai-Tucson

    Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on what would be good options or best avoid? Maybe something missing from the list above?

    Qashqai will probably have the 1.2 tCe engine, which although more complex than the 1.6 GDI engine in the Tucson (and probably the Kia too) is a nicer engine with better power delivery.

    Has to be said that there’s a good size difference between a Vitara and a Sportage/Tucson, with the Qashqai somewhere in the middle.

    You could add the Seat Ateca ,VW Tiguan and the Mazda CX5.

    Thanks, W Tiguan and Mazda CX5 are bit out of budget range but will have a look at the Seat Ateca

    No, I mean in actual size. The Tucson and Sportage are a foot longer and about 4” wider than the Viatra, the Qashqai is bigger than the Vitara but smaller than the other two.

    The Vitara is close in size to the Honda HRV and Peugeot 2008. The Sportage and Tucson compete with the Honda CRV and Peugeot 3008.

    Would the existing warranty with the cars be worth considering when purchasing?

    KIA and Hyundai seem to give a 6/7 year warranty where as Nissan seem to have 3 years so if buying a KIA or Hyundai , it would still be covered under the manufacture warranty for another few years.
