Wandering in toward the hut Darren sees very little of interest, the hut is cleaned out leaving only its bare structure intact, though shutters on the windows are still working.

The hut lies just next to the main Miner settlement which seems to consist of a Shop, a Mill, four houses and another building at the far end that looks like a Saloon.

Darren eyes the saloon suspiciously. He knew a guy went into a saloon once, he never came out. Might still be there for all he knew. He cautiously approaches the shop.

"Well, the one within the book is my Master"

He looks out over the town.

"It was a simple mining settlement. Somebody said there was gold and off we went. Like many others leaving the South after the war, we headed West as there seemed to be money and a good life there"

He then looks into the woods.

"However we were forced to hunt to survive during the first winter. That stirred my Master"

    He smiles.

"We lived well enough, the town grew, until my Master innocently revealed something I wish he hadn't. But that is a tale for another day..."

At this he slowly takes on the appearance of a man. Bearded with a rough face and a form of coyboy hat.

The shop seems reasonably well stocked for an abandoned town, though mostly in terms of ammo and mining gear.

OOC: Weapons can be assumed to have unlimited ammo for a while if you restock here. Ammo for Pistols, Rifles and Shotguns present.

'Ok then, be all mysterious. Was only shooting the breeze buddy. Whatcha say we check out the saloon there? See if there's any alcohol left. My throat is awful dry - lotta killing already tonight, if ya catch my drift.'

He waves his chainsaw at the changing figure and approaches the saloon.

The saloon doors are the typical double doors one would expect for the period, the porch floor creaking as Cron steps on.

"I can't go any further than this point" the Champion says.

"Though you have little to fear within despite appearances"

    Cron eyes the Champions suspiciously.

'Why ever not? Ok, it doesn't matter too much anyways. I've seen more than enough tonight alone to not chicken out of some swinging doors.'

Cron tips his companion a salute and enters the saloon.

The saloon is now little more than old wood on the inside, even the roof is open to the night sky. All that really remains is the old bar and a liquor cabinet behind it.

Cron's eyes light up at the sight of the liquor cabinet. He approaches slowly to investigate.

Inside he sees several vintage whiskeys and surprisingly wines.

However he also notices a hatch underneath a beer keg.

Cron breaks open the liquor cabinet and pulls out a couple of the vintage whiskeys.

'Yo, Darren - got some wine here for you... and there's a hatch going down. I'm gonna check it out...in a minute.'

Cron opens a bottle and takes a swig. He puts the rest in his pack, for later use.

Then he pushes at the beer keg to try and move it out of the way.

Darren reloads, grabs some spare shells and looks at the mining equipment to see if there's any redneck fishing nets.

"picks and shovels.... But no explosives.... of course! Dwarves! Whenever there's a conspiracy involving blood orgies and sacrifice it's always the dwarves! Unless..."
    He quickly checks for yarmulkes.
"No, right first time, Dwarves. Well just you wait, halfpints" he mutters, test swinging at hip height, Darrens going to top you like a dash of blackcurrant!"
Disappointed that there's no one around to share the line of the century with, he wanders back outside looking for his companions. Maybe they're in the mill? There better be some dwarf paraphernalia in there too so he can use the line again.

Upon approaching the Mill, Darren gets a cold chill before he reaches the door. Which he notices is padlocked.

The keg is easily moved aside given Cron's physique.

The hatch is wooden with a steel ring to open it.

Cron attempts to pull open the hatch one handed. If it doesn't work, he attempts to lever it open with his chainsaw arm.

The hatch opens easily with one hand. Within he sees a set of wooden stairs going down.

No response save for the echo from his knock.

At the bottom of the stairs he enters a chamber that looks like a small chapel. Three wooden statues of deer headed men raise their dagger holding hands to the sky at the back of the room.

Some old candles lie about and flag showing a black elk on a red background.

The rest of the room is filled with rows of chairs.

If there are no obvious signs of danger or distress on the door he goes back to the shop and looks for any two metal tools (spanners ideally) and two-spanners the padlock off, then throws the door open while jumping out of the way.

When Darren jumps out of the way he is quickly glad he did so as an enormous tongue lashes outward from the shadowed interior of the mill. The force implied by the whiplash crack of the tongue might have killed him.

    "Sandra? Is that you?"
Don't be silly, it can't be, there clearly was no producers cock in that beasts mouth.
"Mill's out of bounds, guys!" He calls, pushing the door closed then skirting around towards the houses while watching the doors to make sure they don't reopen.

They look like the Champion did in his skeletal form. The wood is very old, though how old Cron cannot tell without taking some time.

Three of the houses look pretty simple. Two floors, each with two rooms. Wooden construction, now exposed to the air. The fourth however is brick, though the paint is long gone and fairly intact, with a heavy wooden door.
