Any of you worldly folks used it in NY? There are 6 of us travelling so an apartment would be ideal. A bit wary of using it as I have read its illegal in NY and they are trying to bring in new rules about it. Don't want to book something and then turn up and its not there or can't be used etc - or is it just scare…

Used it for 3 months in UES in NYC from Jan to March 2017. Not sure about any crackdown on it. Check the website and search for a good host.

It is illegal in most cases in New York where the whole apartment is being rented out.

There isn't anything to stop hosts advertising places to rent but there's always a risk of you losing the accommodation. A good rundown of the issues
