110 litres of beer in the EU. Individual countries can allow more but it must be at least 110.

Apart from the separate customs and luggage weight restrictions mentioned above I'd have a think about how check in luggage gets thrown around. What are the chances of a can getting split open?

I've taken bottles (wine, spirits) before but well wrapped and located in the centre of a large suitcase.

I would question that too. Strong chance beer will be cheaper in the country you intend travelling to.
