    In this order:
    1. Howth - feels more like a little coastal fishing town than a city suburb. Amazing location and scenery.
    2. Ranelagh - so close to town, very intimate feel with great character.
    3. Chapelizod - nestled in the Liffey Valley beside the Phoenix Park, again an intimate village feel to it.
    4. Dalkey - Oozes character and a great coastal setting.

    5. Not a suburb proper as it is inside the canal ring but Stoneybatter is Dublin's inner city village. Has the feel of a rural market town at times. Indeed until the early 1970s it had a huge cattle market, animals paraded down Manor St, abbbatoirs and tanneries. Now of course super "hip."

    I'm a big fan of the phoenix park.

    Not a suburb as such but its a wonderful facility.

    Ii love spending chill out time there

    Fact: it's larger than Monaco, Vatican City, and five times as big as Hyde Park.

    Drumcondra. Close to town, Croke Park and the Botanical Gardens. Lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants. A train station, a nice park and some great sports clubs. The men are that bit better looking and the women have bigger jabs than elsewhere.

    Rathmines - walking distance to town. Loads of good pubs. On one of the busiest bus routes, with a luas stop close by too. Lidl, Aldi, Dunnes and Tesco. Two cinemas and a Swimming pool. I might be biased as I've lived here for ten years, but I love it. 😀

    Nodding agreement with prev posts here, Ranelagh is excellent, quite central, great facilities, village atmosphere, decent architecture and super transport.
    But so much traffic!

    Rathmines much the same and also shopping centre and a swimming pool.

    But best of all is Blackrock, has almost everything including the beach.

    Northside I don't know as well, possibly Howth or Stoneybatter. But Phibsborough has many loyal dwellers too.

    Commanding views over the city. Great on clear nights.

    Lovely houses

    Strong sense of community.

    Tree-lined avenues
