Thanks, just reading the whole thread, so am I right in understanding she can't pause saorview? I know it only has one tuner but surely it should just start to record once you press pause..

I presume her only having one sat feed and one terrestrial feed won't affect her ability to record if she's out of the house for example, she just won't be able to watch another channel while recording one

You can pause Saorview, you just can't pause or record and watch another Saorview channel. With only having one satellite feed you're going to have the same thing on satellite. You will be able to record on Saorview and watch satellite and vice versa

Just to clarify ....... you cannot record one channel on a mux (or transponder), and view another channel on that same mux (or transponder), with only one tuner of the required type?

I expected that all channels on the tuned mux/transponder would be available to view or record.

Sorry, of course, you can view or record any other channel on the same mux or transponder

Recordings lock the tuner. Be sure to disable the second satellite tuner.

You don’t need to disable the second tuner.
Use the loop through cable supplied with the box

Then go into Service searching => Tuner Configuration => Tuner B => Configuration mode: Loop through to , Connected to: Tuner A.

This gives a little more flexibility as it increases the number of channels available with one cable.

I dont know about the loop through cable on sat but i have used it on cable tuners.
I grew up with 1 feed= 1 tuner or twin feeds for 2 like the old sky + hd.

I'd be curious as to how that would work with autobouquetmaker and crossepg that likes to user the second tuner should you be watching or have something recording at the time they run

I like to have multiple feeds in rooms even 3 sat feeds on 28.2 as using 2 on enigma2 box and other feed on a combo box,not counting my motorised feeds.Think ahead if you are going to update box and have all cables done at the same time.

If a recording is active, CrossEPG shows a message on screen that a recording is active and that the EPG download failed.

I’m not currently using ABM, but you could run a quick test yourself, if you’re concerned. (I would expect the test to be successful.)

I would expect it to fail as recording takes priorty over epg or abm or switching channels.
Single fed tuner box would go blank when abm would run and when finished picture would resume.

epg and abm scans are normally set to run when your in bed.

Agree with all of the above - scans are typically scheduled for night time and recording configured to take priority.

The concern expressed by THHB, and others previously, was whether the plugins would exhibit expected behavior, when the loop cable was used.
I did a quick test to show that CrossEPG worked correctly - i.e. a recording, which I have configured to take priority, blocked the EPG download; without causing an unexpected issue.

Similarly I would expect ABM to be blocked if a recording was running, else an automatic channel change, just as you describe. I don’t use ABM, but it should be trivial to test this.

Is Acestream possible on this box?

All my bouquets have been changed this morning without my having made any changes. I can restore from a saved image but it auto-updates to the same new bouquets again with the alert "New Setting DXAndy Enigma2 D 19E FTA of 30-12-2018 updated" which obviously I don't want to happen but don't know how to stop it. Any ideas please?

Unless you disable the abm scan daily it will keep happening,by stopping abm your moved channels will stop working.

There is a plugin sometimes installed by default by the German s/w authors that updates the German sats. This is why it tried to update 19E. Unfortunately I can't remember the plugin name but it is something along the lines of "satellite updater".

EDIT: It's called Programmlisten-updater. Simply remove it.

That was the culprit alright. Thanks for the quick response!

Its a great box all right.
My only issue, is that when I try to listen to any BBC branded radio station, a software issue icon comes on screen and the box reboots.
    Strange one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,956 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Is that by using the radio button or a plugin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭PacMan

    Its the radio button.
For some reason, its only the BBC branded radio stations that causes the box to reboot.
Have deleted the stations, done a rescan a few times.

    still the same.

have you got a dual feed or single feed ie 2 cables or one cable and how have you configured tuners.

When I press tv/radio I get favourites, then i press again to get sat channels, another press brings up radio. I have a single feed on tuner A. Then under menu , setup, usage & gui, I have alternative radio mode as yes .

It could be just corrupt software as well. Did you try powering off using switch at back and then back on.

I will, as soon as I get home this evening.
    Thanks for the help.

I cant see why 1 cable or more matter when choosing tv or radio ,every now and again when reflashing box i would rescan 28.2 to see whats new in listings and it brings up many things. Not sure does abm also do radio?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭PacMan

I also do a manual scan weekly, as I have ABM switched off.
The stations are listed on the transponder all right, its just that when I select any BBC (radio) branded station, the box encounters a software issue and restarts.

Will do as swoofer suggested in an earlier post when I get home this evening, and let you know.

    Thanks again

Are you selecting them from all channels or from within a bouquet?

There's no need / point in doing a weekly scan unless a channel(s) goes missing. Usually if there are any changes it will be flagged on various sites. Digital Spy is one fairly reliable source for any comings and goings. For more detailed info I use KingofSat and sort by date for recent changes.

Just tried my radio channels but using different box an image and bbc works, i wonder if he setup logs to point to his issue could his fault be seen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 574 ✭✭✭PacMan

I have created a radio folder, and can access radio stations there. (except the BBC branded radio stations)
I have also tried "Last Scanned" and its exactly the same, the box goes into a software issue and restarts by itself.

What is your alternative to E2iplyayer?
The developer unfortunately is not supporting the plugin anymore.

Have two satellite feeds into the box and one aerial feed for saorview.

I tried as you suggested : Menu/setup/usage &gui and cannot locate alternative radio to set to yes .

What am I doing incorrectly ?

oops, when you click on usage&gui it takes you to OSD settings, press OK, then a window opens, look down the list, use arrow down and you will see it. it says alternative radio mode and I would not be surprised if it says yes so dont change it. I changed it to no and could get no radio channels.
