Shut your hole, you Grinch. The remote control can fix that, if it bother you so much.

It's only a bit of craic. There's enough a-holes trying to do away with little customs and the likes. It's harmless and adds a bit of magic for the children. That's who it's for btw, the kids. They'll be cynical bolloxes like you one day so it's nice to give them some wonder.

Indeed. It’s only a bit of fun. Also, they’re hardly doing it now. A few minutes once a year.

OP may have had a point if this was posted a couple of days ago

So what, enter into the yuletide spirit for one day. You have too little to worry about.

Not sure that it is really. I dont think there is anyone left that still believes in the Transport Minister.

I think this indeed might be the straw that broke the camels back!!

Never mind Tubbers and his €600k salary, or Joe Duffy and his €400k, or the blatant nepotism that exists in Montrose.

I think in the post RTÉ years, people will look back at the Santa ‘fake news’ and be thankful it happened otherwise the people would have never revolted and stopped paying their TV Livence en masse.

What annoys me most of all is not the 132 children dying each and every day for the past two years in Yemen compliments largely of US-Saudia Arabian "cooperation" but that people are now saying Happy Holidays. Eh, holidays - holy days? And this is meant to be more inclusive than Happy Christmas? Has anybody any concern for the deep offence this causes? Such a cruel-hearted, ghastly, insensitive society!

    Etymology of Holidays:

    holiday (n.)
1500s, earlier haliday (c. 1200), from Old English haligdæg "holy day, consecrated day, religious anniversary; Sabbath," from halig "holy" (see holy) + dæg "day" (see day); in 14c. meaning both "religious festival" and "day of exemption from labor and recreation," but pronunciation and sense diverged 16c. As an adjective mid-15c. Happy holidays is from mid-19c., in British English, with reference to summer vacation from school. As a Christmastime greeting, by 1937, American English, in Camel cigarette ads.

    holiday (v.)

"to pass the holidays," 1869, from holiday (n.).

Also could they not finance a better clip they use for Santa setting off on Christmas Eve at the end of the news, they show a clearly fake bearded chap, could they not finance a proper real bearded man to do the clip or else not show it at all, kids are not thick.

Not much point in him using a breath analyser before he starts when he's getting a few alcoholic drink en route.

    Etymology of Holidays:

And what exactly are you expecting from people?

What are you doing yourself about it?

I think Santa's days are numbered anyway. He ticks all the wrong boxes as a modern role model:-
    He's obese,
He gives 'free' stuff to kids......(grooming?)
He mooches around kids bedrooms late at night,
    He drinks and drives,
And worst of all.... he's a white male:eek:

I'm no fan of xmas, not by a long way, but that's one thing that I rather like.

I love it. Makes me smile. For a minute you are reminded that we were all children once and full of hope.

As others have said, imagine moaning about a bit of positivity.

    Nope, not even slightly.
