Been seeing a lot of posts on FB accusing this and past governments of being right wing. Now personally I think there left and a little to left for my liking. But what do others think are we a left wing or right wing country. And if you think where to far to one side what polices do you think should be implemented to shift the balance to where you think it should be.

    Compared to where though?

Centre right on traditional socioeconomic strategy. Centre left (and only recently) on some social issues, but regressive on some others (personal freedoms, drug policy etc)

There is absolutely nothing conservative or right wing about the current Taoiseach and Government.

Leo is an open borders Liberal and pro-EU hack

If you use term like left right, far right or left your an absolute tool

I would call them centre right but I think with most governments these days policies depend on what will get votes at the next election rather than which side they sit on.

But you and I would be too clever to vote for people like that.

Any government that supports a mother of seven children to the tune of 60,000 and allows her to whinge uninhibited about it not being enough could never be described as right wing.

Irish Govn't could be classed as centre right. Most European Govn'ts have moved from centre left 30/40 years ago. That is in the economic sense.
Ireland would have had a public housing programme since the 1930s through to the 1980s, even when the state had little resources.
A basic utility, electricity was rolled out by the state to every home in the land. Nowadays the state doesn't even attempt to do similar with broadband, which by now has become a core utility.

Anyone that hands over €200 each (in the form of “bonus”) of taxpayers money to welfare recipients is most definitely not right wing!

The electric came to the part of the country where I grew up 40 years after the formation of the ESB, and 20 years after the launch of Rural Electrification. A landline phone was unheard of. Things take time to happen out in the country, and they usually cost a lot of money.
