Has anyone here seen The Villainess? It's a Korean action movie. It can be a bit hard to follow in a couple of places (lots of use of flashback), but the action scenes - especially the first person scenes bookending the film - are really impressive.

I caught it on Netflix a while ago having missed it at the cinema. The opening sequence is amazing, but I did find that the film took a while to hit its groove in terms of pacing after that. Well worth a watch for the opening and closing action sequences, though.

It’s OK, but it plays its best hand early (like, immediately) and becomes a fairly ho-hum thriller after that. Not bad, but not something I’d heartily recommend either.

Watched the first episode of 1983 last night and thought it was very good. It's an alt history thriller set in Warsaw where the iron curtain never came down. Would (vaguely) put you in the mind of Fatherland. It's about a terrorist organisation and a detective investigating them.

It's in polish and dubbed in English if you want, but as always you're better off watching it subtitled.

Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoying this.

Rake is really really funny. Drops off for the last season but 4 season of quality laughs. I’m really surprised more people haven’t seen it

I got really bored of it in season 2. Funnily enough it reminded me a lot of Californication. That too lost my interest in season 2.

    Really enjoyed season 1 though!

First half hour is good. The last half hour is sh*te. Ok in the middle.

Agreed. Buster scrubs is not a movie. It’s a series of shorts, not related. Just like short stories in book form are often named after one of the stories, here the whole thing is named after the first short. It was worth watching I thought but they do have a miserable view of human nature.

Of course the individual shorts are varied in quality. Last is definitely the worst.

Watching Sunderland til I die, really enjoying it; if I could use one word to describe it, it would be "honest"

Fantastic series, 10 times better than the Man City one on prime.

    Not totally honest throughout.

In episode 3 they have a match labelled as being played on September 31st 2017!!!!

(I agree though it's great entertainment)

Usually don’t mind Jimmy Carr but couldn’t get beyond 10 minutes of The Fix. Kathleen Ryan really gets on my goat for some reason and she isn’t even the worst thing in it!

Please don't waste 2 hours of your life in Bird Box. With just 10 days of the year to go it has been awarded the title of the worst movie I've watched this year.

I watched the first few episodes of it the other night and am excited to watch the rest.

If you knew they were going to be successful and get back to the Premier League, it would be a great watch. However, it's the fact that you know it's gonna get 10 times worse for them that makes it an amazing series.

I actually liked it. Not that far removed from the Quiet Place.

Gutted to have missed T2 Trainspotting in the cinema. Loved the original and was chuffed when Pete announced the sequel was up on Netflix.

Just finished it and it is very good. All the characters haven’t changed a bit in the intervening 20 years with a good story to boot. 9/10
