The advantage with Solskjaer is that he's so underwhelming that even if he does quite well, he won't be given the job. That would have been the danger with someone like Carrick - potentially gets a nice bounce with results and then you have the class of 92 campaigning for him to get it full time. They're much less likely to do that with Solskjaer.
    You think?

He played with all of them and I imagine he'd be quite pally with them. Regardless of how successful he has been in his managerial career, he has more experience than Carrick, Neville, Giggs or any of the other Class of 92, probably combined as well.

FWIW, I don't think Solskjaer would be a good fit and I think Man U need to stop turning back to Fergie favourites to solve their current problems. None of them have demonstrated that they're up to much as managers (so far).

I think Ramos will have something to say about that.

Perez vs Ramos would be exactly one of the reasons he might end up back there.

    Its an APARTMENT!!!!!!!

No its not, its the Presidential Suite at the Lowry hotel. Jose said its an apartment not a hotel room because its two square meter rooms.

He lived in a hotel where people check in and out all the time no matter what else he tells you.

What would that run you a week?

Looks nice, seems to be from £2k a night, so a spicy meatball.

£4,000 a night according to the article I read but who knows. Would you get a long term discount? or was it more than usual as Jose wanted all the trimmings? who knows

Living out of a hotel, its a little Alan Partridge though isn't it :)

The hotel Mourinho was living out of was an apartment in the hotel. Has everybody seriously not heard about this? Been well known for years, he even spoke at length about it himself.

Yes Solskjaer struggled with Cardiff but has been very successful with Molde and our Reserve squad, think it's a bit harsh to say he hasn't demonstrated that he's up to much as a manager.

Won 4 trophies with our youths, then went to Molde and won two league titles and cup. Had the failure at Cardiff but has gone back to Molde and steadied the ship big time. Came back to them with them struggling, got them up to finish 6th in the league winning the rest of the games that season. Then a 5th place finish and now they have had back to back 2nd place finishes and look in a steady spot. Also just missed out on Europa League footbal due to Zenit in the qualifiers.

Obviously Molde won't impress a lot of people but Solskjaer has 8 years of senior management under his belt. Not just someone who hasn't managed. Another thing I like with him is he's got the experience of working with youth teams, not only with us but with his previous club in Norway too.

Listen maybe it's a pipe dream for me to think it could work but I wouldn't be opposed seeing him given a chance. LVG and Mourinho came in with buckets of success and it made little difference. Solskjaer is unproven at the highest level but is a competent manager, who focuses on youth development, has shown his success at rebuilding and knows the club inside out. I'd be very happy to see him take over for now and even continue to do so if he can hit the ground running.

Was a premier inn by all accounts. Three beds but the floor covered in breakfast boxes.

Bringing in a DOF now which is looking likely according to Sky makes sense.

Hire someone now to interim manage while the DOF comes up with a long term planto be implemented in the summer with a full time manager being part of that.

To be fair if the board are going down the route of sacking Jose AND restructuring the club (like being reported) then that's actually positive.

I know we have to hold expectations and judgement but it would prove that they are indeed listening to what the fans have been calling for. It may not fix everything but it's nice to seem some proactive work being done and hopefully a long term approach being considered.

As I called on Sunday, would love to see Carlo Ancelotti named as permanent coach come the summer.

I think United ought to steer clear of experienced hasbeens at this stage.

This is the thing. IF its meaningful, football centred reform then Im ok with even an interim coach until the right guy in the summer.

Money should be no object IMO when searching for the best DOF, Manager, scouting network and rehall of the entire club. That should include finding out what way the other successful top clubs are running themselves.

Give it to Steven Gerrard, imagine the confliction and confusion it would send down both fan bases.

The only thing the caretaker should be tasked with is getting us playing some football and finishing off the season well. Doesn't need to a miracle worker or whatnot.. a decent bit of football will keep the fans happy till the new manager comes in.. going by the press release it looks as though the club already are in discussions with someone who is currently employed.

Course hes not serious, but there is no difference between Bangkok trying to shut down discussions of Pogba Sunday and yesterday, think you even waded in at one point backing him up. Pogba was also directly related to United and this is a United forum, so yeah, all discussion should be welcome and trying to shut down discussions on a discussion forum really should be called out.

I'm getting more on board with OGS.

There's no reason to get fixated about his spell at Cardiff. It was a bit of a circus from the start. A club legend who knows what it means to wear the jersey and won't be shy about letting anyone know about it if they're not giving it their all. He'll make the players feel more relaxed and free them up to play their natural game.

Whoever comes in has a free pass basically. No one seriously expects United to make top 4 or beat PSG so what's the worst he could actually do? It surely couldn't get worse than what it has been for the last few months and if it does, well, we're in far worse a situation than we ever imagined.

I definitely think we need to go for a hungry coach on the way up as opposed to someone who is an experienced pair of hands. We need to instill a hunger and winning mentality into the squad rather than someone who is here on the wind down and looking for a big pay day going into retirement.

My top three choices for permanent appointments would be Poch, Jardim and Howe.

Poch is doing very well with Spurs, on very little budget compared to what we offer, and at some point he will have to step up to a top tier club to prove himself.

Jardim, for what he did with Monaco in terms of player development and team building, the results of which are scattered all over Europe right now (without googling so forgive if not accurate) Mendy, MBappe, Fabinho, Lemar, Martial, Falcao.

Howe, in my opinion, has done excellently at Bournemouth and although he is a more out there choice, he plays attractive football and has done very well developing the squad he has. IIRC some of the players in that squad have been there since League 1 or 2. I think once we appoint a strong DOF he could do well sitting within that structure as a head coach.

EDIT to add players also under Jardim at Monaco, Bakayoko, Sidibe, Kurzawa, Bernardo Silva, Carrasco, Joao Moutinho.

For 5 months I can live with it.

Blanc would have been a decent shout but who's to say if he'd have any interest in the interim job.

Who would your choice be as interim coach ?

You have to think someone is lined up for the summer but hey, Guardiola came from coaching Barca reserves, like the job OGS did with us. Wouldn't it be great if we could unearth our own Guardiola?

He may be a better manager of big players than say the job he was asked to do at struggling Cardiff.

AND....that duo will have SAF on the blower on speed dial.

We don't really have much to lose this season....once we stay up!!

At least they are United stock, something Jose was not and never would have been.

Ole has a nice job in Molde that’s meant to be back in March, cant seem him leaving that for a 5 month gig
