Because he would be in the utd first team straight away, he wouldnt make most of the other teams....yet

But he'll have his pick of teams. Why join a club in chaos when you can go somewhere that is set up to help you to succeed.

I'm guessing he just pulls player names from his backside and thinks they'd be a good fit for United. Not everything is about the money or being the first on the team sheet.

Anywhere else would be a good fit for de Ligt, but not United, not right freaking now anyways.......

I am fully confident that negative Mourinho will be more successful than united in the next 5 years.

All of these questions, why can’t he organise a defence, why can’t he organise an attack, why can’t his players pass the ball 5 yards, will all be answered soon enough, unfortunately.

With all due respect Rayne.... good luck to him. Hope he goes on to be a brilliant manager for someone else but it doesn’t change the fact he’s fooked this job up.
Neither his previous or future achievements matter right now.

Like, I don't like defending Bangkok, but are you seriously suggesting De Ligt is some unknown? he's been long linked to Barcelona and is widely considered the best young defender out there right now.

He was also the youngest player to ever play in a european final against us a few years ago

    1. We need to get in a director of football to handle transfers, a scout with a wide knowledge of players like Arsenal did with Mislintat. Our recruitment has been awful and far too many sub par players are hanging around for too long.

    2. Woodward needs to get out of the football side of things completely and get back to doing what he does best, putting the Manchester United crest on as many adverts, umbrellas and pot noodles as possible. Does no-one else find it bizarre that the same person responsible for gaining money is the same responsible for spending it? Surely it makes him look better in the eyes of the owners to spend as little as possible.

    3. And finally we need a coach with a positive attacking approach, who can create a team spirit and imbue the players with confidence. (Eddie Howe would be my choice)

You could say the same thing about Pogba if/when he leaves the club.

At the risk of a repost ! Knew I heard something on the radio on way home from work. Seems we’ve triggered Martials 1 year extension https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018/1217/1017739-united-trigger-one-year-extension-to-martials-contract/

Why would he join United over City, Real, Barca, Juve etc?

I wouldn't be surprised if BVD signed him. An excellent club for developing younger players.

Asking why would he choose United but you wouldnt be surprised if he Joined Dortmund .

United are at a low ebb at the moment but they have the cash and name.to blow most teams out of it when it comes to transfers.

Maybe we could've had De Light a few years ago

    https://www.thesun.ie/sport/football/3499890/man-utd-scout-who-spotted-amazing-talents-removed-after-frank-meeting-with-ed-woodward/
"Players that they turned down? Matthijs de Ligt. We had God knows how many reports on Matthijs de Ligt. Frenkie de Jong and all these players now are sort of around Europe. Dayot Upamecano, who is now at Red Bull Leipzig, was another.

"This was one of the reasons why I had a meeting with Ed Woodward and I told him that I wasn't convinced with the competency of certain people at the club. I told Ed Woodward quite straight: 'If you think I'm going to sit here and just tell you what you want to hear, I'm not that man because I'm going to tell you exactly how I see it.'"

Barca under 10s can pass the ball better than our players

Jose will play it clever and go to PSG after UTD I'd say. A team flush with oil money in a one team league.

Currently they are 16 games into their season, unbeaten with two draws, 10 points ahead of the 2nd place team with two games in hand. They don't call it the farmers league for nothing.

Jose practically courted them with all his talk last season. He'll go there and walk a league title in his first season, talk some crap about us and claim how he is one of the games best and he is a proven winner and his fans will lap it up.

on a different note to change things from the usual debate,we are on 3 european cups and in all fergies years of success we only added 2 to the 1 already making us 3 times winners of the european cup aka champs lge.
city could conceiveably pass that in the next 5 to 10 years and the have not been on the block long really since the big take over its only happening now with city after years of spending and trying to find that greatness which there sailing on now.
barca won there 1st european cup at wembley in 1992 thanks to ronald the free kick specialist koeman and there now on 5 or 6 ?.

interesting times ahead on the european cup count.

But it'll count for nothing winning Ligue 1, sure me or you could do that with their current set up.

If he is brought in, it'll be to win the CL, and if he fails at that, he'll be seen as a failure.

But didn’t he say he had no interest in managing one of those teams that had their domestic league won before the season started?😛

Is there any indication he's going to be gone soon? The guy is poison, needs to be removed.

None whatsoever. Suffer it until the end of the season. He’ll be gone when we finish 6th or worse.

I've long thought that this would be Jose's last big job. There are very few clubs of the stature of Chelsea/Real/Inter/Utd left that would be available but also that would want him.
I wasn't overly surprised to see him go to Utd - it was a "safe" but lazy appointment.
After Utd, there is only PSG or possibly a German team left.
I'd be very surprised if PSG went after him. He would as usual fall out with half the team when they don't fawn all over him. Yeah, he would walk the league there but as usual negative football and constant drama.

Ken Earlys piece yesterday captured him perfectly. He was one of the worlds best managers but like most managers, he failed to change with the times and there are so many more options out there for a top team.
