Is there still time to trust Amazon (prime) deliveries to get here by Christmas? Or are there many delays?

Looking at a soft toy, Amazon saying I'll have it by Friday 21st. Monday the 24th would do...

I've found them very reliable last few weeks. Always came on the day they said it would or even a day or two before in some cases.

I’ve had three out of about 15 packages running at least a day late. One which was due last Monday arrived on Friday

According to the website today is the last day to order for ireland.
I've ordered about 10 items off them recently and all came exactly on time.

    Pulled the trigger anyway, thanks.

Couple of days late no harm. Trouble if it doesn't arrive by the 24th.

Best of luck to those waiting on stuff.

The delay won't be Amazon, it'll be An Post. So if An Post are playing okay for you, you should be fine...

An Post have been fairly on the ball for me. Get a text when it reaches the depot, package usually arrives next day. Even had them ring me when I wasn't home to see what I wanted them to do.

Not a chance. AnPost are swamped with parcels at the moment, there are delays of many days.

Surprised how good deliveries have been for everyone. I would say well under half my deliveries have been on time. I've also had one parcel returned to Amazon for no reason, and another lost by An Post.

An Post are terrified of losing the Amazon gig. I've heard that all China stuff is getting ignored in favour of keeping Amazon happy. Expect a deluge of China free shipping crap at the start of the new year.

I ordered 3 seperate items yesterday after 12pm. By the evening they had all shipped and got a text from An Post this morning saying they’d reached the Depot. That’s the fastest delivery I’ve ever had from Amazon. They all were ordered and shipped seperate too so likely just bundled together with An Post.

I’d been having a lot of problems with Amazon earlier this year with stuff taking over a week just to be shipped. I wasn’t Prime at the time which seems to be a big benefit.

I had 6 items from China last week more or less on schedule (4 weeks approx.)

Ordered 2 firesticks on Wednesday evening 12th and delivered to DPD parcel wizard Friday 14th and delivered to me on saturday 15th.
Took out prime for the month and was well worth it for the expedited free delivery on all orders.

I don't think prime is any faster than standard. I reckon they have just improved the speed across the board, and the prime people are paying for it. My work colleague doesn't have prime, and he has ordered items on the same day as me, and we both get them at the same time.

Ordered something off Amazon on Saturday dispatched yesterday and arrived in Dublin today received a text so hopefully get it in the next day or two..
Ordered another package from UK,not off Amazon last week it was dispatched the 10th and have heard nothing since hopefully it arrives this week. Don't think there's any tracking from where I ordered so just waiting .. so I say they are prioritising Amazon orders

Makes a difference alright. I ordered a quilt and delivery was nearly 2 weeks. Cancelled it after a few days and took out the prime for the month as had a lot of shopping to do and got it in 2 days.

The Yankee Candles that were posted on the forum over BF finally arrived. In a soggy wet box, one candle in a cardboard casing, grand. The other wrapped in bubble wrap smashed to be bits......

It might make a difference in some cases, but I sit next to a guy who doesn't have prime, and he is regularly getting stuff delivered in 2 days. A big change from when free delivery used to take a solid week.

I honestly don't think the standard shipping and prime shipping are treated any differently on An Post's end.

I have student prime on and off as required. With an Irish address once dispatched its similar delivery time. But the dispatch time is regularly 1-3 days extra without prime. Also if there is say an hotukdeals offer the prime account seems to be much more likely to be assigned available stock whereas the no prime account gets stock from backorder or cancelled. So there seems to be some prioritisation. But I agree delivery times in general have massively improved

I wouldn't be trusting An Post at the moment. I have an order for something from Ikea as part of a Christmas present that was meant to be delivered to my office on December 3rd, and I'm still waiting. Ikea can't do anything as they say An Post have it and there is a massive backlog. They also emailed me last night to say that can't even guarantee that I'll have it this week

I ordered something on the 3rd of Dec for delivery on the 5th. Only made it to Dublin Mail Centre on the 8th.....then nothing for over a week. Amazon said it was lost and refunded me....

.....then out of the blue, it was delivered today.

They may still charge once there is proof of delivery. My parcel was late and they refunded me but when it arrived they are asking that I post it back or they will charge me in january.

Got a very heavy double delivery (they put two large orders into one box) from amazon the other day. The box had clearly been opened (the btape had been cut it hadn't even been resealed) and the postman agreed. The bnox was also heavily damaged. I was going to refuse the delivery but accepted it as it was so close to Christmas I figured not a chance I'd get a reorder in time.

One order contained 10 items of clothing - 9 arrived, all of which are going back for various reasons.
The other contained 6 various items - 3 arrived. The 3 that are missing are a male toiletries gift set, an Ipad cover and a neoprene laptop cover.

I've spent a small fortune on hold with an post trying to get customer service and at this stage over 2 hours with amazon on chat trying to rectify this. I've also talked to the local sorting office manager and the things he's said about an post and amazon aren't fit for print. What he did say that I will relay is that they were overwhelmed with amazon orders and the condition some of the stuff arrives in is appalling. I had to fill out forms for an post too - TBH I have zero faith in them doing anything but I wanted to log it anyway.

The standard of amazon Customer Service is appalling these days when it used to be so good. After my first call I assumed everything was sorted. Then I found out they charged me for the postage to return the items and charged me for the good that didn't show up. The follow up call was yesterday so I have to wait until next week to see if the refunds are processed correctly.

I don't know why they sent both orders together (they were ordered over 2 weeks apart) but lesson learned on this one. Such a frustrating experience.
