Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seems to be very much centred in China.

Chinese company so yes at the moment...

They are part of ForumlaE so they want to push outside.

They have the capability and backing which some people say they can be a better version of Tesla.....

Before everyone jumps, google and see what the analyst say

EXCLUSIVELY to China market and first 7 seater EV on the market...

    7-Seater High-Performance Electric SUV

The NIO ES8 is a 7-seater high-performance electric SUV exclusively for the China market. It is a mobile living space on wheels with performance in its DNA. Both the onboard NIO Pilot system, an advanced autonomous driving assistant system, and the first in-car intelligent AI system NOMI redefine the car ownership experience.

Interesting, but I imagine they will have large costs associated with expanding to outside chinese markets
    Safety being one of them.

In China they have outsourced the manufacturing to another company, this meant they didn't get into the issues that Tesla have got into

They could do something similar in Europe....

But Chinese cars aren’t generally designed with safety in mind. Tesla have learnt how to upscale manufacturering and their newer factories will be much more streamlined

Looks like an odd mix of the Kona EV, an IPace, and a qashqai

    ES8 in Norway with Bjorn

Looks very dated., reminds me of an 80/90s land cruiser. Even the little little robot thing is like the old compass in them. Lots of things to break.

What I find interesting about Nio is their battery swop solution.

Im happy doing charging but the battery swop is a good attempt at addressing the charging issue lots of ICE drivers have with EVs.

Battery swop in 6 mins tackles the following challenging scenarios

    1) time poor high mileage drivers.

    2) people living in apartments.

    3) people who struggle with giving up the 5 min petrol refills.

Surely that's a gamechanger, if the battery range is not sufficient swap for bigger capacity in the future.
