As per After Hours thread here, there seems to be a scam happening whereby elderly people are having their vintage cars "bought" from them, only to not get their money, or getting a lot less than what they had been originally offered.

Perhaps check in with any elderly people that you know have vintage cars to make them aware of this scam.

People need to realize that scammers exist in all walks and shapes, usually preying on the elderly. Yet in this case, it wasn't a high tech operation involving pyramid schemes or the likes; a simple yet effective swindle. Everyone should be aware of how versatile and charismatic scammers can be. Knowing the way these scammers work there will be more than just this ring; often involved in far more organised crime if digging deeper. Eventually they always get caught out and hopefully in this case all possessions get returned to their rightful owners. You never know what's going on behind closed doors, or in this case roller doors

They have been haunting vintage rallies for years, hawking goods of dubious origin. Not surprising really.

    It's their culture.

i wouldn't be surprised if the scam didn't involve calling back to a person they'd bought from demanding a huge refund because of faults supposedly found.

Moved to Classics to give notice to the crowd affected.

Closed as the usual "discussion" can happen in After Hours thread linked by OP.
