The mini me's of the U19 top their group on goal difference from PSG with that thumping of Napoli.

    Gruijic training injury :(

I didn't forget. We had a bad night in Belgrade, that's the difference here. A single inexplicably poor performance. It happens. It will most certainly happen a couple more times this year. Even the greatest teams in football history have suffered such.

Well the good news is that Liverpool will be in the second pot at worst and hopefully the Pot No1 for league winners for next season. No more groups of death for a while probably

Presume that you know it will be a boy, alisson would work for a girl but virgil would not be a good idea

I'd say call him Bobby and give him a dodgy fake mustache.

May have been posted already today but worth noting.

Most frightening part of this is the name of the coach.

Daniel Agger is 34 today. Not the D'Agger pretender that resides here, but the handsome Danish fella.

He was some player before injuries slowed him down.

The Hodgson era doesn't even register with me I've so distanced myself from it. Like Soviet history I've expunged it.

Amazing how Liverpool in the space of a little over a year went from a starting 11 of:
Reina, Arbeloa, Agger, Carragher, Aurelio, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt, Gerrard Babel, Torres

    to one of:
Reina, G Johnson, Konchesky, Kyrgiakos, Carragher, Raul Meireles, Spearing, Poulsen, Shelvey, Jovanovic, Ngog

Matip has fractured his collarbone. That's a shocker.

Six weeks out, Christmas period could be tight for squad rotation if there are any more

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

    So who's out then

TAA (maybe and for a short time?), Gomez (six weeks), Matip (four to six weeks), Clyne (back in training but don't hold your breath).

Fab at right back not a problem, Lovren back is acceptable.

VVD & Lovren the only fit CBs.

Lovren always has those one game injuries.....

Fabinho at CB any time soon?

    What?

There's a couple of notable omissions there. Where's Gerrard for one?

I mean, I know we were ****e but that goes without saying.

Extremely disappointing but I'm surprised we got this far into the season before injuries at the back began to cause havoc. Terribly unfortunate to lose both Matip and Gomez but with their records there was always a chance we'd have to go periods where we wouldn't be able to rely upon them - Matip especially. Gomez extremely unlucky to be out currently due to a freak incident but I'd be anxious to see if he comes back to fitness within the expected time frame without any issues.

I'd be surprised and bemused if Klopp isn't in the market for a starting centre back in the Summer.

Pretty sure that Gomez is penciled in for that role. He'll likely look to bring in cover but i doubt we'll be spending big money on another cb.

Gomez is the nailed on VVD partner until VVD moves on or retires. Lovren will be third choice if he sticks around.

Cheeky bid for Conor Coady? :)

I'd still be anxious about Gomez. He's out due to a freak incident but I'd still be concerned about the injuries he's had long term. If he comes back and has no further set backs for the rest of the season I'll be happy to call him VVD's permanent partner. But for me the jury is still out on who that is.

Down to the bare bones a little now in defence. Pity for Matip as he was excellent the last two games. He's awful inury prone though. Unlucky this time as it happened almost right on the final whistle of the game. VVD and Lovren have to pretty much play every 90 minutes now over the Christmas and new year period. Not ideal. I can't see Lovren especially not picking up some type of knock either. He's another one who usually has a niggle of some sort. VVD will have to continue being iron man. He's been incredible but the workload and minutes he'll have to do without rest is adding up. Either way it's a real worry giving the difficult games we have coming up.
