    Pity that:
    1) City aren't away tomorrow night
    2) Everton weren't fortunate to draw with Watford on Monday
    3) The game ain't on at Goodison Park
    4) Everton weren't just Lyon or a team in good form.

Or that city weren't so bloody good

Van Dijk slides at 40/50 mph according to Brady.

    Vandijkfacts.

And 30 seconds later Hamann was saying how Van Dijk didn't have to go to ground once!

Canning was brutal on commentary tonight, RTE struggling to find someone decent with Hamilton past his best. Is Stephen Alkin about it now.

They can't do themselves a favour, 2 disappointing home draws since the Derby.

I'm not at all worried about the chances we missed tonight - it's great to see us make so many and still look solid at the back.

Well not worried now that the game is over but it was a bloody major concern at the time!! :pac:

Immense performance tonight. VVD was a collosus throughout and that save by Allison at the end!!

Mane is such an enigma and so inconsistent - he can be either wonderful or woeful. You never know what you're going to get with him.

The mixing up of black players is actually getting beyond the extremely rare forgivable slip-up to something his bosses need to consider-it's just so blatant and distracting for the viewer.
Even if you can't see their faces or numbers, there's no way a commentator should confuse Wijnaldum and Mane. Height, gait, speed, position on the pitch etc should make it obvious who's on the ball.

Do people really believe that elite professional footballers so not get adequate rest between games?

We are talking about players who have unrestricted access to elite sports scientists, physiotherapists, doctors, analysts, massage therapists, nutritionists etc. Everything. Everything you could possibly imagine to ensure they are 100% before the next game, even with just "four days" rest.

    The schedule for players who were involved tonight will very likely be the following;

Wed: Recovery. Stretching etc. Zero contact
Thurs: light training, reduced contact. Mobility.
    Fri: Tailored tactical/positional training
Sat: 1/2 day set pieces and opposition analysis

Elite teams would typically operate on a 9-3 schedule and a half day the day before a game unless travel is involved.

This incessant talk of players being "exhausted" is pure bollox. Elite footballers are more than capable at performing for 90mins at a time, particularly when they have every benefit science and therapy has to offer.

Yes fatigue is cumulative but this notion of resting players for a week will somehow make them miraculously recover form is inherently flawed.

Some players historically could barely hack training between games but that was down to the individual and their physical ability and these players are less likely to make it to the top in the modern game due to the money involved.

Resting players is all well and good but it isnt some sort of miracle tonic that turns players into superstars.

These people arent bursting their holes doing a 9-5 with all of the worries of "mere mortals". Literally every single advantage that can be gained is gained.

These aren't a bunch of working class folk with families togging out for some LSL team at the weekend.

Pre season training is a different kettle of fish for obvious reasons. It serves a purpose to establish a baseline of physical fitness which is rarely expanded upon throughout the season except in the case of extended breaks such as international breaks etc.

Plus, five day break between United and Wolves and a five day break between Wolves and Newcastle

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

While I agree with a lot of what you say Negative, it's been scientifically proven that playing European football on a Thursday is a load of bollacks

However, both of those defences in the picture are easy to get past. Unlike Van Dijk and Alisson.

If everyone is out as above...

    Alisson
Milner - Lovren - Van Dijk - Robertson
    Gini - Henderson - Keita
    Shaqiri - Salah - Firmino

It's not ideal but it's bloody good. Option of Fabinho at right back or CM too, with Lallana, Sturridge, Origi, Moreno, Mignolet and one other on the bench.

City have an appalling injury list, not that you'd notice. Things aren't looking great for us on that score but we have a little depth this year and may be ok.

Rags claiming he will cost 90m...or that's what they're saying Jose has been quoted. :pac: :pac: :pac:

Good morning ... things are looking great, into the knockouts - superb performance last night. 90 mins of football and conceded only a few chances to the opposition who had it all on the line. Aside from finishing an extra goal or 2 MANE delighted how that game went.

1-0 this season is a scoreline that always seems capable - amazing to think of the times when we hid behind the sofa every time we conceded a corner late on. The panic when we lost possession. The inevitable ... conceding of a goal haha.

5 days countdown to another huge game this weekend. Fingers crossed everyone that needs to recovers in time. Big ask to bring that level of intensity and emotion inside a week though - but who could you justify in leaving out after that???

    Wow! Immense, fully deserved.

A very successful first phase of the season. Onwards.

This. We wouldn't care about the League Cup, so the perfect mid-December would be top of the league and through in the CL.

    Merry Christmas!

We're not afraid to spend ridiculous money on centre backs :)

Henderson’s was excellent in the second half....why can’t he play like that more?

In the big games Hendo's work is noticed - its actually the smaller games where we have buckets of possession and he needs to be more of a playmaker than holding Mid that he looks out of place at times. Huge expectation on him too.

Yet again, Klopp picked the right team. The most disappointing players on the night were Trent, who still stands off his winger far too much, and Mané for those misses. But the midfield 3 were all excellent.

For all that's been said about Mane's misses, the work that he done off the ball and dragging their midfield and defense out of shape was exceptional. He just confuses the bejaysus out of the opposition.

To be honest at this stage we could just have Allison, Robbo and Virgil as the defence and the rest can go forward and we'd be fine.

The difference this year in the amount of ways we can win games is crazy compared to previous seasons.

in the last 10 days we've seen an deep injury time comedy winner, a battling come from behind victory, a 0-4 tonking and a backs to the wall 1-0, skin of our teeth nail-bitter.

We absolutely robbed Roma between Salah and Allison.
