Can BTEA be applied for in a second year of a course after taking a year out?

Basically not sure I can continue in my course right now, it's extremely competitive and I'm unwell. Barely making it to classes and on top of this, a very large workload beyond the academic aspect is required throughout the programme to obtain any sort of reasonable or satisfactory outcome. At this point in time I am not integrated into the endeavour properly in anyway shape or form and I think in the coming years I will suffer for it in a way that degrades my future potential.

I'm considering taking a year out after this year and applying for an SW payment, staying on that for a year and then starting the course again on BTEA if this is a possible option? Is it? Cheers

No you can’t drop out after a year and get the dole for a year so that you can get BTEA for the rest of the course.
Every 3rd level student would do that if it were possible and then every third level student in the country would be on BTEA.
