Watched 'February' / 'the blackcoat's daughter' last night by Oz Perkins. Eerie, slowburn horror with great performances from the three leads, especially Kiernan Shilpa and Emma Roberts.

Have you watched Vikings, if so, how does it compare? I never heard of it before until it started appearing in my recommendations list, possibly because I added Norsemen to my list.

Very late reply here sorry, I haven't seen Vikings so I can't compare.

But I'm now on Season 3 of this and I'm absolutely addicted to it, I'm surprised it doesn't get more love here!
I get serious Game of Thrones vibes from it, but I actually think The Last Kingdom is superior.
And I say that as a diehard GoT fan :pac:
You should give it a watch, you won't be disappointed!

So I got a netflix trial today thinking El Marginal and Anime Nere were on there, but I guess they have been taken off.

Any decent foreign series to recommend? Ive seen the usual suspects such as narcos, suburrah and gomorrah

I enjoyed 'Fauda' and 'Dark' recently, both being very different shows.

El Marginal is still on it, season 1 and 2. Has anyone seen season 2? What's it like? Really enjoyed season 1.

Just finished watching Happy Valley starring Sarah Lancaster of Corrie fame. She plays a Police woman and a granmother who is out to exact revenge on the man that raped her daughter. Her daughter comittes suicide and Lancaster has to bring up the young boy conceived after the rape. There is another major storyline but I don't want to spoil it for those of you who are going to watch it. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it. It's a BBC production and has two series of which has six episodes. Sarah Lancaster was excellent in her role as a police woman. I would give it eight out of ten for the storyline and the acting.I don't know how long it has been up but both series 1&2 are up.

The Last Kingdom is one of the best shows ever. I know it’s quite different but it does remind me of Spartacus which I absolutely loved aswell. The opening and theme tune are very similar.

When I search for El Marginal, nothing comes up. I signed up from a location in Greece, Im guessing that's the issue? Don't see any way to change it in the settings.

Edit: spoke to customer service. Netflix Greece is not fun at all.

There's a Spanish show called Money Heist. It's trash but good fun. I watched it when we were all snowed in earlier this year.

Thanks - had had La Mante recommended to me before, but I forgot about it completely! I'll get stuck into that after my exams.

The contents depends on your current location so signing up in Greece shouldn't matter, unless you happen to still be in Greece of course!

There's no changing location etc, Netflix will default to your current country's content.

Dark is excellent. Real hidden gem. Series 2 is due to land August 2019 afaik. Can't wait.

Cocaine Coast is very good, essentially the Spanish version of Narcos

November 13. It's a 3 episode series about the terror attacks in Paris. Really sad, but interesting

Thought they changed that recently so that you access your home country's content no matter where you are

Ronnie Coleman: The King is a good documentary I though.

Negative. You can only get what’s what at your physical location according to their staff today. Makes sense thinking about distribution rights etc

This thread seems to recommend a lot of new additions, which is great but I'm going to recommend something I watched about two years ago and watched again recently : A Most Violent Year

In 1981 New York, a fuel supplier (Oscar Isaac) tries to adhere to his own moral compass amid the rampant violence, corruption and decay that threaten his family and his business.

Bit of a slow burner but a very unique type of film I felt, great acting from Oscar Isaac who's one of my favourites these days. Not too long at just over 2 hours. Really good stuff, even after watching the second time it still had a lot of rewatch ability.

It's a little more complex though. So sure if you signed up in Ireland, whilst living there, you have the Irish catalogue. Then if you went on holidays around Europe, you'd still have the Irish catalogue. But if you stay in a country for a while, you end up with their catalogue. It's only designed to let you see your home content when travelling - you're not entitled to it permanently if you move.

    From their own help page:
For countries within the European Union, we provide the same content as your home country for a limited period of time. We'll let you know when the limited period is over, and you'll have access to the TV shows and movies for the country you are travelling to. When this happens, we’ll be sure to let you know.

I think the time is a few weeks at most.

Can't understand how in this day and age the EU isn't just all one market for this stuff. We'd be a bigger market than the US then and surely get all the content without this VPN carry-on

It's simply because of licensing. We don't have a single broadcaster in the EU so there's loads of individual agreements with different European stations with content producers who will want to maximise the revenue stream of their product.

    I know, right!

Watched the excellent 'Cargo' last night; an aussie 'zombie' flick with a great performance by Martin Freeman
