Not looking forward to dealing with the usual messers DoneDeal attracts.
What is it about cheap cars and time wasters?!

Seems a refreshingly honest ad with none of the usual engine and gearbox 110% type rubbish (what makes an engine and gearbox in a used car 110% as opposed to 89%?).

Very few sellers would mention that the fuel tank leaks if filled more than half way. Would make the ad all the more endearing to me if I was shopping for a car. Best of luck with sale.

    Thanks,
I’m prolly too honest for my own good,
The guy I bought it off neglected to tell me about the diesel tank, I found out the night before an NCT 🙄
I’ll get the vacuum out tomorrow and get interior pics up.

Extremely reliable. Close to 90's Toyota levels of reliability. Very simple and rugged.

Not near it tbh. Those rio/accents are ok but the engine in them can't take abuse or neglect like an old toyota/honda could.

The Kia Rio is basically a rebadged Hyundai Accent of the same era. They are pretty reliable and nothing complicated. Basic no frills a to b transport. The 1.4 petrol has a timing belt and the interval on them is every 90k km or 4 years according to info on the web.

The accent is the nicer of the two. It's a bit more than a rebadge. They are the same underneath but the accent is different inside and out and is a bit better finished than the rio.

To be honest I couldn't really be arsed splitting hairs around the small differences between a Rio and Accent.

At least with adverts.ie the time wasters aren't ringing you!

    Oh it’s on there too!
So far I have gotten a txt that says ‘1000 BMW’
Dunno whether it’s a boast or an offer,
And a nice gentleman who wants to buy the car at full asking price for his wife in France.

As Gravelly said at least with adverts you can take the enquiries at your ease if you haven't listed your number. I recently sold a 01 Rav4 that was perfectly usable, had the say guy calling me over the course of two days offering me €100 and when I told him it was sold his reply was "go on then" Like I had done him wrong :)

I'm in the market for a new Jag and was looking at that...

Can't make my mind up though tax is a killer.

Do some reading on that engine, its a Peugeot unit used in Rangerovers and others. Can be troublesome, but they are lovely when they work. The above is a bargain for the money if its in good order.

    Would this suit?

You'd be quicker running and with the auto box it would be a bit heavy on juice but should be reasonable reliable.

One of those Micras would be a sage enough bet alright. They don't get much air time in this thread but they aren't often very cheap. I'd be skeptical of the claimed 66k on that one though..

They are also not nearly as bad on juice as you would think. I had one for a short while recently, and was quite surprised how good on fuel it was, didn't really notice much difference between that and the manual version. Quite a nippy little car too.

Choice would be pretty limited for automatic, max 1.4 litre and a budget of €1,500.

    How about this?
    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/renault-clio-1-4-16v-petrol-automatic/20041362
    2005 Clio 1.4
    111k km,
NCT 04/19 and a dollop of motor tax
    Asking €1,500

Comfy cars for what they are. You could do a lot worse. That it’s advertised as having a full years NCT (expiring 4/19) is good. For sale a while so good grounds for haggling.

Yeah I have been. not all good news there I am afraid!

Tax puts me off the Stype TBH and I am super fussy - it doesn't have the spec I want. No heated seats, heated windscreen or auto lights.

I think I need to move up a good deal in years too. Those older Jags are starting to get uneconomical to run..
