I'm still laughing and will be for days. I think the sweetest part is it was Everton's own fault...they must have wasted at least 3 of the four added on minutes. And throwing blue flares to celebrate a draw?? Hilarious.

Any long lens footage from the camera behind the goal?
Would like to see more player reactions, especially VVD. He turns away in absolute disgust at his botched shot with a palm over his face.

As great as a late winner is, and as important as the 3 points were, it was a lucky goal and it will gloss over what was a pretty poor performance from Liverpool for most of the game.

Firmino looks a fraction of his former self. Salah is still struggling. Mane mixes the great with the terrible. The midfield isn't working, and our right hand side is still vulnerable with TAA. There are a lot of things we really need to improve.

Origi when he came on scored a goal, but straight after he came on he also took a ball down the right and went past his man. It was more than Firmino did all day. Probably didn't do enough to get a starting spot yet, but he's definitely knocking on the door and Firmino needs a combination of a rest and a boot up the arse.

I don't know what to do about the midfield. I don't think we know what our best three is.

The level of performances seem to be on a sort of level with the rest of the chasing pack - Chelsea, Aresnal and Spurs, but the resilience and quality baked into the side now is what's keeping us in the fight.

We've conceded one fewer than City, but we've conceded 6 fewer than Chelsea who are the next best defence after that, and 13 fewer than Arsenal. 5 goals in 14 games is astonishing. We're in with a shout of becoming the best defence in the history of the PL. If you'd told me that this time last year I'd be calling up the nice men with the straight jackets.

It's not entirely comforting given that attacks win leagues and not so much defences, and we're streets behind City - they may well score half as many goals as us by the end of the season, but it's something to work with in the mean time.

Naby is the biggest factor yet to be seen for us. We lost a bit of momentum with the subs today and lacked width and an outball when Naby came on. Maybe it would've been more prudent to have Origi on first to maintain that, but heyho.

Hopefully he'll come back in against in midweek and he can start to find some rhythm.

Ideally Lallana would offer something in that midfield ball carrier role as well, but he just doesn't look up to it physically anymore.

Other than the obscene number of points we've accrued, the most positive thing is that there is more to come from this side. It's just there's so little margin for error that if it doesn't get here soon, we are going to lose too much ground to make up.

All last minute winners at Anfield need a bit of it....

Watched that on repeat for the last 10 minutes. VVD was running back to the halfway line with his head in his hands. Might not have seen the goal go in! :D:D:D

I love the fact that Origi is so astonished by what happens that he grabs the ball to run back to the centre circle for a quick restart.

Well on course to be more hated than 13/14.

Oh it's positive alright but just to get back to normality, if that calamity didn't happen we draw that game and would now be 5 points off city, we simply can't and won't keep getting away with performances like today, it was poor stuff yet again today, performances need to improve and we all know that

    Here's the thing.

If we have played 14 games without hitting our stride and are only 2 points off City what happens if (and it's a MASSIVE "if") they lose their mojo as they advance towards a CL final and we do actually hit our stride? Would those roles and more importantly results be reversed in the PL?

CL distraction for City is, IMHO, the best chance we have to win the PL this year just as our distraction chasing the CL enabled Utd to overachieve by finishing 20 points behind City in 2nd last year.

The fact Utd overachieved last year by securing 2nd place is increasingly clear to see as the exact same squad (bar the addition of a £50m Brazilian midfielder and the best young Right Back in Europe :-) ) is already 16 points off City in first place after 14 games this year and with 24 games to go could, by simple extrapolation, be 43 points off City by the end of the season i.e. 103 for City and 60 for Utd assuming City don't go through a bad patch whilst focusing on chasing the CL.

If City do take their eye off the PL ball in order to chase the CL we could well pip them in May for the PL but we'll still have to bring in 90+ points to do so.

    t's a mad world eh?

Exactly as I did. I went to walk out of the room, didn't see the goal, heard the celebration and was like WTF...?

Either did I. Was multi tasking watching the match and cooking dinner.

Was leaning over the couch with a tea towel in one hand and a knife in the other looking at the last minute free. As soon as VVD scuffed his "shot" I roared abuse at what a stupid fcuking effort that was and turned to prep the dinner in the knowledge we had dropped two points only for my 13 year old daughter to start celebrating the goal and cue my own stupid foul language assertion that I never had any doubt but that they'd get the winner!!

The dick swinging by fans in here about us being hated and all that juvenile stuff is totally cringey, you'd swear we were dominating the league for 20 years with the bravado on display. At least let us achieve something first.

Yeah, spotted that. I don't think he knew what was going on. Reminded me of the guy at the start of Saving Private Ryan who wanders about before going to pick up his severed arm.

Good to see some genuine humour from someone who must be in such humiliating pain.

    Fair play CC.

Hey you enjoy the good the results, you get s**t for the rest. Enjoy it if you're really a red. Every club breaks your heart eventually. Maybe the highs and lows of football isn't for you. Nothing cringy about celebrating last minute winners.

Hey, I'm in the Liverpool thread and there's a bunch of us happy with a big win.
    Nothing wrong with that.

I'm assuming you had a bad day/support Everton? Only a game as the saying goes.

    All in jest.
