Are Waterpiks of any use?

Came across Waterpik today in Reddit. Was wondering if it's of any use? I currently brush (non-electric toothbrush), and don't floss.

So I'm wondering if the Waterpik is a gimmick, or does it work? I'd be using it after I brush, if I got one.

Like any tool its how you use it, but IMHO I think they are excellent and I reccomend them to all my patients.

I have an airfloss which is basically the same thing. Judging by the amount of stuff they flush out that my electric toothbrush misses i would say they are definitely of use. And get yourself an electric toothbrush as well.

Cool. Any recommendations on a non-portable one? Plan on just leaving it in the bathroom.

Heya,
I don’t find them effective compared to flossing or interdental brushes although they are better than nothing. It can remove some debris alright if used correctly but little impact on calculus build up. I only tend to recommend them to people with implants and/or very poor manual dexterity that cannot use floss or interdental brushes. Sometimes to people with low motivation as a last resort.

Have a bridge, and forcing the floss into the gap between it and my gums is highly annoying, as it's increasingly difficult to get floss that has a tough section that I can push through the gap.

The waterpik is perfect for that kind of thing. I have one for over a year and it's still charging satisfactorily. Its really good at flushing out bits that you cant get at otherwise.

Thanks. Was looking at https://www.boots.ie/waterpik-ultra-water-flosser-wp-120uk-10166257 as it's cheap, and I'd be able to pick it up at a Boots near me.
