Around the 15th to 18th for me. The garden lights will be turned on earlier though.

Put the small one up in the kitchen on Monday, the real tree is bought, drying out in the hall ready to be put in the sitting room and decorated tomorrow..
I'd put it up in July if I was let. Started playing Christmas music on November 1st though, just cos :D

The 8th is a standard date myself and my friends were always told as kids, but I'm not sure where it originates from or what the thinking is behind it - I suspect it's related to how long a tree can realistically maintain its shape before the branches begin to droop? If there's no practical reason like this behind it, I'd have thought the first weekend of advent would make more sense.

EDIT: Also, when we were kids the "tree with a water bucket for it to drink from" type of tree stand was pretty much unheard of, so perhaps with this now being standard, trees are able to maintain their firmness for longer? I have no idea if a water supply is related to how long it takes for the branches to get all droopy and forlorn looking, but it would make some kind of sense if that was a factor.

I have rule that no Christmas decorations are to be put up before December.
And traditionally I put them up on Dec. 8th.
But the kids now pressure me , so I cave and put them up around 1/2 December - but never in November .. that's crazy.

I remember actually one year my Grandad left the tree up till the end of February ... lights on every evening too!!

Wait till 20th December anyway, anyone with trees up need to address their premature ejaculation.

I'll do it around the 10th to the 15th. Probably pointless because I spend as much of Christmas away from this house as possible but the Mrs likes the decorations.

Haven't taken it down since 1996. Will unwrap it from its 11 month clingfilm cocoon next week.

Started playing Christmas FM today - waiting for the brain washing effect to kick in, then it's all systems go including the tree. Expecting to hear Noddy shortly with his raspy voice .........It's Christmas Time ! ;)

Up since last Sunday, house is fully decorated too........ anybody who doesn't have their tree up before the Toy Show is a f#cking degenerate low life scumbag who deserves daily kicking in the crotch area...... in my opinion. Happy Christmas!

I usually am adamant about December, maybe a week in, but maybe before the toy show this year, so tomorrow

Usually we'd be the 1st of December, or if that fell on a weekday, then the first weekend of December (my trade off for having to have a fake tree is at least I get to put it up earlier) But my husband is away the first weekend of December this year, and we've stuff on every other weekend between now and Christmas, so last weekend it had to be. :D

Doing it all tomorrow, toy show night is our official start of silly season.

Up the 8th, down soon enough after New Years.

Anyone wishing people a Merry Christmas in November would want a word with themselves.

Every year without fail on the night of the toy show, my mam insist on putting the tree up. I’m the female Scrooge. Honestly. I like being around the family and whatnot for Xmas but Jaysis the whole decrating business infuriates me at times. I would gladly have Xmas without the whole hog of the decrorations but birthdays my Jaysis I’ll go all out for that.
