This is an example of the wealthy entitled brigade who have €6.5k to spare to splash out on a snow holiday and yet rings that eejit Duffy to complain about the lack of snow.

Mary said that she bought the trip for her grandkids as their Christmas present and they were "going off to see Santy."

She feels she is being sold short and is going to go anyway as otherwise, she will lose her money regardless.

She feels "the shine has gone off it".

Toughshivsky, alot of poor kids living in poverty can only dream of Santa giving them food parcels to help them get through a hungry Xmas.

Do you expect people to apologise fir having money.?
No matter what happens in the workd there will always be those that have and those that don’t

The real narrative is granny who flies around the world with kids complains about global warming!!

Goes on Joe Duffy to complain about the weather.

Mother of god, now that's an example of apt cause to call someone a snowflake.

A grown woman who is at least middle aged. There is a good bit of infantilisation going on in this society.

The joe duffy thread today was hilarious reading.

Will she sue when she finds out Santy doesn't really exist?

That poster is always complaining about people who have the audacity to work hard and do well financially.

However they have a point about the whiny behaviour for a ridiculous reason - and actually going on a national radio show about it! Mortifying.

The show's team are nearly as bad for entertaining it - although they probably just did so for the laugh.

Joe Stuffy is being well paid at our expense to host this cr*p the granny is probably a plant.

Don't need Joe Scruffy or Pat Scrubty or any other of the high paid Montrose brigade that we are forced to pay for setting my talking points.

If she paid for the holiday with her chump change or coupons this story would still be about her having more money/coupons than cop-on.

Yeah was thinking that could be the case - although wouldn't be surprised if she was for real.

Sorry what? 6.5K on a santa vacation. Erm, do they actually get to meet the real Santa?

Totally stupid thing to ring Liveline about (well, that’s what Liveline is for, complaining about stupid things).

But, in fairness, it is hard luck that there’s a lack of snow in Lapland coming into December. You’d kinda bank on it.

The point to note of course that it is not only the wealthy entitled brigade that do this trip. Plenty of the usual welfare heads manage to do it " for the kids"
Reminds me of the spongers who used being queuing up on Christmas day outside travel agencies to avail of so called bargain trips to Benidorm.

If I owned a strip club, I'd make it Christmas- themed and call it Lapland.

Moany Mary would not be welcomed there either.

Crazy money to spend going to Finland!
Sure you can get return flights for under 200 Euro.

Six and a half grand for 36 hours should be what she's complaining about.

Worse than that it's only a 36 hour holiday for that price.

Another caller got return flights for herself her husband and 2 kids for 8 hundred or so by booking the trip herself and leaving out the middle man

A gob****e of the highest order, but in mitigation, she works for a living and paid every week into the travel agent for her trip.
    Whatever floats your boat.

She said on the radio that the grandkids were listening into the show.

Later she said she wanted to take them while they still believed in Santa.

So now there's no snow and possibly kids that don't believe in Santa.

Snow or not, I'd still go to Lapland, regardless.

Bet she would if she spent over 6 grand on snow. Not to be sniffed at. Alt least she'd be guaranteed a good time.

    It sounds like it.
In a way I get it: some ppl are into making all type of memories, at any cost. Actually, this is first year when I know someone going to Lapland - when they told us, I couldn't comment anything decent; but was so glad to hear my 10yo is not impressed.

There is something I wonder: does this granny story have any chance of beating Tullamore's "drop dead" coffee owner media storm ?

She could easily have made up a little package for several nights to Swedish Lapland, with hotel and flights, eg https://www.expedia.ie/Hotel-Search?packageType=fh&searchProduct=hotel&c=bdb4ad87-d3fc-4cbd-8e0f-759656efed35&adults=1&children=1_10,1_8&originId=4347204&ftla=DUB&destination=Kiruna,+Sweden+(KRN)&destinationId=6029328&ttla=KRN&startDate=4/12/2018&endDate=8/12/2018&sort=recommended&tripType=ROUND_TRIP&misId=ec40a186-4fa0-421f-8545-48884dd1951f

Cheaper, and for several days. Of course there’s Santa etc to pay for on top of that, but Kiruna is a lot easier on the pocket than Rovaniemi, but it has all the same ingredients for a trip to Lapland.

Yeah but I find in most cases that these kinds of people lost grip with reality a long time ago.

One lad was on here about how it was perfectly normal for ordinary folk to go around in 800 euro jackets...

He doesn't even live in Lapland ffs.

Those Finns are a bunch of con artists.

Could have had a week in Disneyland for half the cost.
