Typing Tutor software

Hi,

if this is the wrong section, please feel free to move.

I'm looking for some for of typing tutor software for my 15 yr old son - he needs it for school and I'm struggling to find anything.

Amazon have a good few which are all download, but they all say only available to UK customers for some reason.

Anyone any ideas ?

Is Meavis Beacon Teaches Typing still a thing? Was great back in the day as it used games to teach you to type faster

For me I learned to touch type through writing code so maybe suggest to your son that he learn some programming (eg. http://codecademy.com/) and, through that, accidentally learn how to touch type.

I can type ok, but I'd love to have learned to do it properly.

A free application you can download and use is TypeFaster.

I've used this and recommended it to people in the past.

Mavis Beacon was the one that came with my first PC. I used it a bit, and it was really good. I just never sat down and went through the whole course. I think this is the gold standard when it comes to typing.

You can buy older Mavis Beacon CDs on ebay.ie fairly cheap. Just check it is compatible with your computer.

A quick google also shows that they are still making Mavis Beacon.

typing.com is free and you can use it in your browser. Teaches you to type using both the standard teaching way and also using games to test your skills. If you login it saves your progress so you can use it on any pc or laptop and continue from where u left off
