€10.00 starting balance with the code 'IRE10' when you sign up to N26. Saves you a bunch when using the card for xmas purchases on amazon etc as they don't charge you when paying in £. Free tenner is nice too..

Referral links aren't allowed posted here. Revolut is better and easier to use for any considering this.

Removed any links, just thought i'd share a good deal lads. Free € and all that.

Also how is Revolut better? They charge more and your money isn't safe if they go bust. With N26 its backed up by the German government because its a real bank!

Revolut charge the interbank rate, so they're the cheapest around. Not only that but they also have a full banking licence so you are covered.

Might want to check that. They often add about 2% in fees at the weekend and the definitely don't yet have a banking license. They have a nice friendly brand but they're actually a bit sneaky. Not saying that N26 are some sort of angels but they're subject to German banking laws so they have be on the ball. I get my salary paid into it.

anybody looking for a referral link please contact the OP as hes trying to sell the brand. Why would any of these go bust?

    I have both....
The main benefit for me is that I can use N26 account with google pay on my phone. For me this is a significant plus as my other cars don't facilitate it. So I use Revolut as my default amazon card, and I use N26 for contactless payment.

Revolut also works with Google pay

Totally wrong. I've been using Revolut on google pay on a daily basis. Both here and in the north, in garages, supermarkets, Asda, cafeterias, Weatherspoons pubs the list is endless.

okay, I'll play nice, regardless of your "totally wrong" comment.
    1. You are in beta
    2. By default Revolut are no longer putting people in beta
    3. The only way of getting into beta is by emailing "beta@revolut.com and hoping that their system will randomly choose you are a beta tester.

Feel free to prove I'm totally wrong by contacting Revolut directly and asking them

Haven't a clue about the above, but the slice of bread I'm eating at the moment was bought today through google pay via revolut.

You don't technically need to be signed up to the beta, you can simply be with them long enough to have a mastercard with them. Their new visa cards dont work with it yet.

N26 is just like any other bank account. You can send money to it using the iban of the account.
I'd recommend N26 the phone app is very good and google pay works great!

My revolut works on Google pay and I never signed up to any beta. News to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,105 ✭✭✭Reputable Rog

I have both, Revolut is effectively my spending money for a pint or coffee etc and I use N26 more for saving. Topping up via the app makes Revolut better although not having Apple Pay is annoying.

As explained if you have mastercard with revolut google pay will work. If you have the visa cards all newer customers get it will not.

And just remember that you fill out a Form 11 tax return for any year that you open a foreign bank account like N26.

How would you fair out getting wages paid into an N26 account. I am a p.a.y.e. worker so there would be no tax avoidance. Would it all be legit?

There is a thread in the banking forum about N26:

You might find the answer there, but generally your employer should be able to pay money into any sepa compliant account independent of the location of the account.

That however does not neglect your responsibility to declare the opening of an account to revenue.

There is no tax avoidance with an N26 account anyway - it's just a payment method, there is no interest/income earned or anything.

Tax avoidance is legit, its tax evasion that is illegal.

Can you provide a link with this evidence? I'm sceptical that any account within the EU requires a declaration to revenue unless it is for savings purpose. Revolut is simply a debit card system for payments.

My statement is to the N26 account on offer not an electronic money account like revolut.

Why don't call the revenue hotline and tell them you need advise as you have opened an account with N26 in Germany and got yourself 10€ from them as reward to see what their opinion is if you need to declare this or not.
