I would say it would be a decent second TV for the bedroom, wall mounted.

Those legs are very far apart and if you have small kids, I dont think it would end well.

I cant see any youtube reviews for this exact model.

I'd say these will be snapped up regardless.

Ant tec heads have an opinion on this ?

It doesn't have ambilight which is generally the only reason to go for Philips over a Sony/LG/Samsung which will almost certainly have either better IQ or a better OS.

Next model up 6703 or 6753 come with ambilight and won 5 stars on What hifi

£399/€450 for the 6703 in Argos if anyone fancies taking a trip up north.

Euro is relatively strong against the pound at the moment.

    €510 here in Ireland.

I got that TV yesterday, it's pretty impressive for the price. The ambilight is a great feature.

Just received this week from richer sounds. It's at 429 sterling now with them. I'm impressed, but coming from an old 32" so hardly surprising.

Specifically went with this as it has a FTA satellite tuner for bbc, etc. Built in and a good chunk cheaper than the equivalent LG.

Do you use a console with it?
was wondering what its like for gaming

I have a PS4 connected but haven't tried it. I had to change the settings for HDMI 3 port as it's not a 4k/UHD device I had connected and the picture was flickering, the TV has a great help section which told me what to do.
If the quality of even 'standard' HD is anything to go by then gaming should be no problems for the TV.

Is this good value really? Not so long ago my local Lidl had a 43'' LG TV for 250 euro. That was good value. Was raging that I did not get one. Would much prefer to have a TV that's actually made by the company name that is on it and not just a TV that has a company brand name on it but being made by some third company in Turkey who are just using the said company name and has little or nothing to do with the brand name that is on the TV.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

It sounds like your problem is that you simply don't understand how brands work (or indeed, what a brand actually is).

TPV Technology had been making Philips entry level TVs since 2004 in a joint venture known as TP Vision. TPV Technology slowly increased their stake in TP Vision until they acquired all of it. 3,000 Philips staff were transferred to TP Vision when it became a wholly own subsidiary of TPV Technology.

TPV Technology had been making displays since the 1960s under it's other brands.

I'd say these won't last long in Lidl on Friday morning, based on past experiences I'd say each store will only have a handful and they could be sold out before the shop even opens if people start queuing early.

    PCWorld/Currys have a few reduced to €449.

LG 50UK6470PLC 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV

SAMSUNG UE50NU7020 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Tesco have what looks to be the next model up with Ambilight etc.on a Black Friday special. Can't find it online but think it was a 50" 6500 series for about 470 Euro.

Does anyone know if this has Freesat? Couldn't see it on the box

Has a satelite input so can get FTA channels but I don't think it's freesat.

The LG mentioned below is certified freesat HD.

While the Philips 6500 does have the ambilight I'm actually leaning more towards the LG myself.

Cheers. I'm half in the market for a TV so there's a danger I may come out with one when I just go in for bread and milk.

I have Ch4 HD through free to air satellite using inbuilt LG tuner. I assume that’s freesat.

You have a Free to Air Built in Satellite tuner

Freesat is a company like Freeview

I think I have you, so I’m missing out on an EPG or something.

Yes, and organised full EPG, you'll just have an non-arranged list in tuned in order
