Look how higgledy-piggledy Ireland's defensive line is in 2013, and how organised in 2018. That's largely down to fitness, I would suggest.

Fitness and being well drilled. That was a team at the start of a cycle after Schmidt and the coaching team had come on board. We’re 5 years down the track and you can see how everybody is singing off the same hymn sheet

I think a grand slam will be really tough to do. Scotland and Wales away is very tricky.
A lot will come down to who's available and injuries.
I think we'll win the tournament but not the slam..
If we do win the slam, I'll start drinking again.

Huge moment at 64:40 when VDF nearly gets caught as he is momentarily concerned that Cronin could struggle to defend a Perenara snipe on his inside and Barrett goes between Earls and Josh. Looks for the world Barrett would go on and likely get over the line but fantastic recovery with Kearney managing to intercept the offload.

Wasn't a fluke by Kearney. Firmly believe that was premeditated to move there in anticipation of Barret's off loads and how they typically score. Quite brilliant if I'm right.

For all the missed opportunities for NZ, we had quite a few ourselves. Those three amazing lineout steals when we were in there 5m , the poor pass by Ringrose when we were attacking, with a 2v2 on the outside and lots of space. We could've scored a lot more

I think Eamon Dunphy once said 'as nation we are best in adversity'.

I believe it was actually George Hook, during the 2011 RWC. That's Hook who has also said Schmidt could possibly be the worst Ireland coach ever. There's been a lot of rugby played since then...

The pass called forward? Absolutely nothing wrong with it

Assume he was talking about the pass from left to right on the kiwi 22 in the second half. Kearney was the intended recipient with Earls outside him. Ringrose went for the killer outside shoulder pass but overcooked it a little and Kearney failed to get to it. But Earls regathered and dinked down the line.

The length of that play time in 2013 apparently made Joe bring in a drill where they basically go all out and lung busting for the longest realistic time that a ball can be in play on a rugby pitch. Definitely adds to the fitness but also the mentality of defending backs to the wall.

That and Jason Cowman the S&C is apparently unbelievable at what he does

I was yea, rewatching it last night, didn't realise the first time how much space there was to attack. Kearney and Earls were in acres, with only 2 defenders in front of them.

Watched the full game yeaterday again. At the time I thought Earlsey was quiet enough but he actually played very well. Also a player I've been critical of in the past was Kearnsey but he really is playing well and has the No 15 sewn up for the WC.

My only concern is in the NO 2 position. Besty really is vital. I like Crons but he is suspect with his darts. Also special mention to Tones he has turned into a vital cog in this team and not just in the lineout...

He’s not gone, he’s just so far offside you can’t see him anymore.

Under what grounds? I know his grandmother was "Irish American" but she was born in the USA and didn't hold Irish citizenship as far as I know.

I don't think there's a position on the pitch that could be taken by a haunted pencil.

Is it just me or does Rees-Mogg bear a stunning resemblance to Hitler?

Fortunately for y'all. Otherwise you'd once again be trying to forget a narrow loss to the ABs ðŸ˜

How's your week going so far? Only had to discuss the match with a few people today, each day gets a little bit easier :D

I didn't want to let the cat out of the bag, but I actually met Steve Hansen at the team hotel last Wednesday, and he told me they were going to throw the match. Made the loss a bit easier to take.

How many All Blacks does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

One, and he can do it first time with no try's.

That joke would have come in useful in 2016!

Asked how he will reflect on the loss, Retallick said he would need to mullet over.
